gout hinders WL process
You may have to go with soy protein. Whey protein might irritate your gout. I have read here that some people have not lost any weight for the first 2 weeks.
I know it is very discouraging but hang in there I will start falling off.
Remember walk, sip, walk, sip walk, sip and then do it again!! And take you vitamins!!!

Kim,
I was a slow loser and was in swell hell. I actually left the hospital 20 pounds heavier! Go figure, everyone is different. Don't let it get to you... you'll be a winner or loser in no time... promise!!!
Keep sipping tha****er... sip sip sip... it aids in weight loss and flushed your body of toxins.
My best to you!
Kim

I have never had gout, but have had high uric acid (which causes gout). I am in the same boat. The high protein can cause gout, while the lack of protein could cause lose of muscle mass...So which to chose early on? I would do some protein shakes but be sure you are getting in high content (dense) vegetables. If I were you I would (as soon as allowed) eat spinach every day (which I do). The reason I eat it is because of the potassium, iron, and protein. Gout is common for post WLS people. You are on a high protein low vegetable diet. Add the weightloss and you are more prone to gout. Would love to hear what your doctor says. I would consider other vegetables such as a mixed combo like broccoll, cauliflower and carrots. Brian
