Tricare?? Isn't that through the military? I have a friend that's a Navy wife who went through TriCare and had her Lap Band surgery on 8/12/08. I think it was only a 4 month process for her...

Yes its through the military.  Ive been married for 20 years now and always used my own insurance.  Long story but Im prior military and still hold some medical grudges :)
My employers insurance doesnt cover wls so I dropped them.    I cant wait to get this done.

I have Tricare and have my follow up appointment with the  nutritionist on the 10th of November. My husband is leaving on deployment in January and we were told as long as I have lost 10 lbs by the 10th they will schedule my RNY. I wish you luck.

I have Tricare Standard - my husband is retired military and it only took 2 days for the approval to come in.  No supervised pre-op weight program and no hassles.  I had my laparoscopic RNY on 10/6/08 with Dr. Alan Wittgrove at Scripps and everything is great!!!!  You shouldn't have any problems getting your approval.  Tricare was wonderful.

Thanks Betty.  I have tricare standard too.  Im hoping it moves quickly.  How are you doing?  Where did you have it done?  Did you get to choose or did tricare assign you a surgeon?
