I just need a word or two that tells me that NO weight loss for 10 days (other than opertion fluid weight gain which did go) is NORMAL?  I was 1/2 pounds lighter at my post op on Tuesday than I was at my pre-op. ( WLS was on 10/20). That was alllllll put back during my post op time (13 lbs)  thru lose lovely IV bags.  As of today..still..NOTHING
I do not want to be depressed or bumbed about this procedure..buts it happening!  Just two words..lol  "it's Normal"  (and ofcourse any other words of advice.  I am following the protocol like it's Gospel!

Kim,

I was thinking maybe you are losing inches right now. That is why the scale is not showing the numbers, but trust me you will lose. I do think it is normal. Or could it be you are not eating enough, so your body is in starvation mode.

Just remember. You Will Lose!!

Thank you Julie..I hadn't thought of inches because all I wear are my moomoos.  I don't want to put slacks on yet because of my tummy still healing....it is very tender with all the wounds I had from the allergic reactions to the hospital dressings.  I will slip on a pair of pants later..lol..thank you again

Kim this soooooooooooooooooooooo "normal" for some. I had the same problem....only my clothes that fit before my surgery...were tooooooooooooooooooooooo tight after!!! Don't trip!!!! Just keep doing what your doc says to do and for sure the weight will come off!

Thank you Janine...that sure helps me and my paranoia.  I think I will have one of my kids hide my scale...and I will not give this another thought.  When I was a newbie, I did not remember this issue being addressed..it is good to open a potential question for other newcommers.

Thank you Marcy..I'm hanging on to your sweet good thoughts.
Julie..I just went in and tried on some slacks (stretch jeans) and one of my regular tops..no change.
I eat enough, infact my husband jokes that I am not losing because I am not throwing anything up..lol  I have always had a cast iron stomach....I have no problems eating or keeping anything down....yet.  I eat the proper amount of the protocal foods.  NOTHING CROSSES THESE LIPS THAT IS NOT ALLOWED.
I at Target yesterday (won't tell you what city)....but there was a 3 week WLS post-op person there that was bragging about eating candy corn!!..I almost fell over, I felt so sorry for that person...already sabataging this procedure!
I'm gonna stay the course...would never consider otherwise, the reassurance is all I need.  I promise this will be my last whawhaa day posting this delema..lol
Thanks all..God luv ya!!

I wouldn't stress too much on it Kim. I agree that your body is probably in starvation mode. The one way I knew I was loosing was a horrible taste in my mouth. It usually came when I napped or slept at night. From the back of my tongue. Do you have the yuck mouth?

Hi Nicole...nope..no yukmouth yet..lol  I did chew a small piece of cooked carrot and it tasted like steel wool though..lol.  NO ketosos yet..it could be becaue my blood sugars are not yet obeying the new body, I did have a problem with a high value of metabolic disorder before the WLS...so maybe my liver is in overdrive still, kicking out glucose.  I think I will do some reading on that topic.  I whine, then I get over it..lol  Thank goodness for this board, you'll not hear too much whining from me as things get better..lol
Love you allllllll

Kim,
Throw the scale away!!!!!!!!!!! I felt the same way and I had my surgery on 9/16-08. I have lost inches, my face shoes the weight loss. I only get on the scale at my Drs. Appointments. I walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip, and protein. I am following the book too. Please don't be depressed, it will come off, just wait and see.

You are doing fine.

Love, Karen
