Truly historical and amazing is all I can say. As I listened to his victory speech last night....I knew that the right choice was made, but at the same time a very hard place our country is in that Obama is taking over. He has a very tough road to go down to get our country back on track, but as I told my students yesterday....I truly believe that the best person to lead our country and fight for change will prevail. I surely hope that the Republicans and the press will not go after him like they did Clinton, but as my husband said....he feels that Obama would by far have less dirt on him than Clinton. We shall see...I say just let the man do his job to the best of his ability.

I can remember when I was like 6 or 7 and Carter was voted out, why I was listening to his speech, and he was crying, I started crying. I felt so bad for him. Not that I understood what was going on, just that a "grandpa" was crying (he seems soooooo old)

Last night, with McCain I didn't get the feeling he was sad about losing. I was never for McCain so I didn't following him that close, so I could be wrong.

The winner won by a land slide, and for that I am so happy. I would hate a fight to break out over the numbers. That would suck! big time.

I truly believe we now have someone in office that will make the changes we need, and enough  control of the Senate and the House of Representatives that we can see those changes voted through.  I just truly hope they have enough secret service on he and Mrs. and the kids because unfortunately we have quite a few whack jobs, and then throw in the racial aspect, and someone will definitely try to grab a place in history and attempt to assassinate he and/or his family.

I was so happy last night, that I made a ****tail.  I was just sitting in my living room jumping up and down and screaming.   This a beautiful day in America.  This morning, I bought 2 copies of every newspaper I could find.

John F. Kennedy predicted, before his death that "America could very well have an African-American in the White House in 40 years".  Boy oh boy, he did not lie.

Without struggle, there is no progress.

As the mother of 2 bi-racial children, I cant explain the impact this election has had on our family. My husband and I sat down with my 15 year old son and explained to him how historic this is. Told him in as little as 30-40 years ago, he would have been shunned by society and his dad and I would never would even have been able to get married because as a white woman and he being an African-American man, some not so nice stuff could have ensued.
I read some where this quote.....

"Rosa sat, so Martin could talk, so Obama could run, so our children could fly"

I am so proud of myself to be able to see this great man be elected President of our nation and to know that my 1 little vote counted . This is truly a historic moment for the United States as well as the world. Our children now will know that even as Obama seemed to be the underdog, good things happen to good people.

I agree with all of the above...but I am ashamed of our state that prop 8 passed.  How can we celebrate the civil rights victory of electing an african-american, but at the same time tell gays that they can't marry like the straight folks can.  I think this state/nation still has a long way to go, and I hope that Obama can lead us there.
