Naval Hosptal San Diego

Has anyone had their surgery here?  I would like to hear more.

I don't know anyone who had bariatric surgery there but, in general, it is a very good military hosptial. 

Your doctor is in the San Francisco metro, though.  Are you changing doctors to have the surgery in San Diego?

I cant figure out how to change the doctor from my profile!!!!  Dr Wetter was who I chose while living in the bay area.  He is awsome however we are now in San Diego.  I have a consult at Balboa on wednesday but Im nervous about it being a military hospital. 

I had a good friend who had surgery there. I heard it was a great program.

As good as that hospital is, I suspect your doctor for the consult will be good.  However, as a long-time employee of the military, I have had some bad experiences while stationed overseas (such as the severed tendon I had in my left ankle which was treated as a sprain).  My general impression is that, in many cases, military doctors have entirely too many caseloads and do the best they can in the amount of time they work.  You need to ask as many questions as necessary to come to a conclusion that you want this doctor to perform your surgery or you want a referral to another doctor.  I've lived all over the world and I can honestly say, Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties have some of the best medical care I have ever witnessed.
