Hi All!  I am new to this message board!  I am having surgery in 12 days with Dr. Campos at UCSF.  I wanted to know if there was anyone out there that had their RNY with him or at UCSF.  Any help would be great.  I am day 2 of my liquid diet  and doing good.  A litle tired but okay!  Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Hi Charity,

Welcome to the Cali board, there are so many wonderful people here ready to support each other.  Congrats on your surgery.  I will have my RNY with Dr. Stanley Rogers at UCSF on 1/08/09.  Dr. Campos did our orientation and I thought he was really nice.  The posts that people have done about UCSF and the Docs there have really been great.  I can't wait to hear all about your RNY.  I have to do the week of liquid diet too, I will start that on 1/2/09.  I live in the East Bay so I will be getting up at the crack of dawn since I need to be there at 6:00 a.m. for my surgery at 7:30 a.m.

Congrats and welcome, please keep us posted.

Does Dr. Rogers require the liquid diet?  Dr. Campos does not but I put myself on one just to get my liver as small as possible before surgery.  I have already lost the 5-10% that Dr. Campos requires.  I live in the North Bay and my surgery isn't until 12pm.  I wish I was going in the morning!  I will keep you posted on my experience.

Yes, liquid diet for 1 week prior to surgery and a bowel prep too (oh joy.)  I have lost some and he wanted to to only loose 8 more so that should be attainable.  I am trying to watch it through the holidays.  I know the more I loose the better it will be for me.

12pm will be there before you know it.  I am really excited for you.  Keep us posted.

Hi Charity,

As you can see from my profile, Dr. Campos did my RNY on 6/16/08.  He is great and extremely skilled and experienced.  He works with a Fellow - Rene Ramirez who is also wonderful (and HOT).  I had no complications and was out of the hospital Wednesday around noon (surgery was 2 PM Monday).

If you have specific questions, just let me know.  Another woman, Laya, is having her surgery with Dr. Campos this afternoon.  She is also an OH member.
