Ok, I know this subject comes up often but I was wondering if anyone could tell me ....When does the hair falling out stop??? I had WLS 12 1/2 weeks ago and 2 weeks ago my hair started falling out. Not just a few here and there but there is even hair on my keyboard!! It is everywhere!! I take my vitamins religiously and I get in the protein. I have had  surgery 9 times in the last 5 years and this is the only time my hair has fallen out. It's worse than our shedding dogs! Any hope here or should I just shave it off and tattoo my head???!!

Hi Joy, the hairloss usually starts about the 3rd month and stops about the 6th. I just bumped up my Biotin and the hairloss is finally slowing down. So, don't panic.

My Dr's told me that it usually doesn't start falling out till about month 3 and could last up to 6 mos.  I have heard biotin helps, although I haven't noticed that it has made much difference for me.  My nails have gotten extremely weak too.

I don't know if it helps, but I started talking 1000 mg of biotin daily I think 2-3 months before surgery and still do....

I'm hoping I don't go bald, lol  I have extremely thin hair as it is, lol  Guess I'll have to call on my stylist friend to get me some hair pieces, lol

I dunno what I'll do when it happens!

Well, I start taking Boitin just before WLS and had continued to do so. ANd I am about 3 months out so I guess I will just ride the ride. Oh, Linda my nails are a train wreck. Before WLS they were really strong and looked great now ...well they are a train wreck!!!

I take 5000 micrograms of biotin 2x a day.  I am about 10 weeks out and my hair is getting thicker!  I have had thin thin thin hair for the last 20 years and you could definately see scalp.  Scalp is covered now so..............

If my hair starts falling out, I will just make some cool skull caps and ride it out.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.. but I kept losing hair for at least the first year.  I'm lucky  though, because I have very very thick hair.  But I still could notice a difference.  Just keep taking your vitamins and getting in your vitamins, biotin included.  There's not a lot you can do about it, so try not to stress.. stress causes baldness!

Take care,

Joy,
I just noticed today that I had a lot more hair to pick off my shirt then usual! So I freaked! I went to Rite-Aid and bought high potency Biotin and took one as soon as I got home! lol

My hair is still falling out but it has slowed alot in the last couple of months.  I just got my hair cut above my shoulders to make it look thicker.  It worked!!
