Good Monday Morning Cali

Oh I know what you mean!  In the 7th grade home ec class we made tuna casserole..everyone got sick.  To this day I won't eat cooked canned tuna! LOL  Funny how that stuff sticks with you.

We cook the crab outside.  Our BBQ has an extra burner attached.  Seems like this would be a good way to can tuna!  I couldn't handle the smell in the house for days.

Smoked tuna sounds interesting.  I've never had that.  I love smoked whitefish though...

They aren't going to decide on slamon fishing until April. :-(  We won't have any until at least then.  I worry about how many fishermen will be able to last that long with no income.

Please be very careful abalone diving.   We get the most callouts from the Coast Guard to abalone diver Search and Rescues.  Most underestimate the rip currents or get caught in the long kelp.  Abalone sure is good though!

Oh, don't worry!  We are mega careful when diving.  Hubby's been doing it for 10+ years and is very careful.  A lot of people panic when they get in trouble and that's their un-doing.  We have a friend who works for the coroner's office in Ft. Bragg and he says he hates it when he gets a diver call.

My guys cook crab outside on a big propane burner using a pony keg with one end gone.  The boil the water with fresh garlic in the water and an onion.  For the salmon and tuna, he uses a pressure cooker so he has to do it in the house.

You are so going to have to come down for dinner and stories when we are down for a week in June!  I would love to meet you and swap stories and food!

I'm so glad he's been doing it for a while.  I hate getting those calls too.  Invariably 1 or more don't make it.

Absolutely we'll come up to meet you.  Just et me know what day is good for you.  Tuesday's are generally bad for us.  But give me a week or 2 notice and we'll be there. :-)

Janine,

Hello Cali friends and thanks for the shout out Janine, such a great part of the day.  Regarding the sax playing, I play a gig called San Jose Saxophone Christmas each year, where we try to outdo our last count.  This year it will be on Dec 20th.  You can check out their website at www.sjsaxmas.com.  Last year we had about 190 sax players perfom 2 concerts of all christmas music.  What a hoot that is!

Hubby and I did buy the Wii & Wii Fit for each other for Christmas, lots of fun and GREAT exercise for one who is out of shape. The hubby and I are having so much fun competing, Christmas came early!

Thanks again and happy Monday all!
