WHAT A DEVASTATING BLOW!! (also posted in main forum)
I am so sorry for your loss and understand what you are going through.....but....you must go to your appt today - your grandparents would want you to do this and I am sure they want you to live a long and healthy life. Just know that if they are not here physically when you have surgery they will be watching over you from above and will be so proud once you are a big loser....do this for you, keep that appt......and hang in there..I know its hard but just know that we are here for you .....best of luck with your Dr appt today
Oh honey I am so sorry. To echo what everyone else said, go to that appt today and know in your heart that the best gift you can give your grandparents is to live a long healthy wonderful life, after all, if they're going to sit up there and watch us, we better make it interesting right??
Know that the whole board is with you thinking about you and sending you our love today!

Hi.
I don't know you at all, but your post really touched me.
My oldest sister (who is old enough to be my mom...I am the youngest in a biiiig family), has been critically ill for most of my "journey". She has been in the hospital since September, and many times we have been told by docs that she probably wouldn't make it. I continued to go to my appointments, get my paperwork together, etc. I had conflicting emotions about doing *anything* for myself when she was suffering so.
I am so happy to say that my sister has managed to pull through. She was too ill for a heart transplant, but a team of amazing doctors has brought her back with an artificial heart and some cutting edge medicine. She is still in the hospital, though out of ICU and now mentally alert and going through intensive PT and other therapies to get back on her feet. The beautiful thing is that I when I told her about my surgery, she was overjoyed to the point of tears. She wants me to be healthy and happy.
I know this is a completely different situation, but I guess I just wanted to say that the people we love truly want us to be healthy and happy. Taking care of yourself is loving your grandmother as well as the rest of your family.
I send my warm thoughts and wish you all the best.

I AM SO SORRY THAT YOU HAD TO DEAL WITH THAT DURING YOUR JOURNEY, BUT AM HAPPY TO HEAR THAT YOUR SISTER IS DOING BETTER.

JUST LIKE ON OF MY FELLOW OH'ers TOLD ME, EVEN IF SHE DOES GO, I WILL JUST HAVE ONE MORE GUARDIAN ANGEL WITH ME SHOULD I GET APPROVED FOR MY SURGERY.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT, BEST OF LUCK TO YOU AS WELL, MAY YOUR SISTER CONTINUE TO GET STRONGER WITH EVERY DAY...

Jenn,
I am so sorry for the stress you are under. Loosing family members sure is the pits. You Grandmother Passed in January I totally Get the feeling of needing more time. One thing that has helped me is that just because their Life on earth has ended their presence in your life has not. When my father died a few years ago I was given a rose bush that we planted in out backyard. I put a small little bench near the rose bush and I am able to go sit in quiet reflection about my past, present and future. As long as we remember our loved ones and value the impact they have had in our lives they never truely leave us. I would encourage you to take time to go and say good bye if at all possible. It is not something that you get a second chance at. You dont want to have regrets. And honestly inless your Dr. Office is super booked. I would postpone the appt a couple of days so you have the opportunity to tell your grandma how much she means to you. I think in the long run it will make a world of difference to both of you.
Now if you postponing this appointment is going to significanty delay your journey then I would have a different answer. Could you call the Dr. Office and explain the situation. Maybe you could have a phone consult with your dr.
If you ever need to talk please feel free to message me!
