Posted on the RNY board but have gotten  no responses. Come on Cali, please help me!!!

I am 7 months out. Have had zero complications (like I never had surgery) and have NEVER vomited or even heaved like I was going to get sick.  Was sitting in a meeting at work and instantly felt sick. Went into the bathroom and full on heaved like I was throwing up. SCARRY as I have NEVER thrown up post op.  Hurt like hell but nothing came up.  Started shaking.  Had two cubes of cantelope about an hour before I got sick. Assuming its the flu as my son came home from school sick yesterday and was vomiting.  Dont think its dumping as my version of dumping is diahrea and this hurts dead center between the ribs. I am thinking I going to stick to water today and then protein drinks only for a few days. I am sooo scared to get sick as I have never gotten sick!!!
What can I take for vomiting that wont damage my pouch?  Any other suggestions?

I have also zero sickness, but I will see what I can do for you.  The cantelope is suspicious since it was recently eaten.  It is called food/refrigerator roulette.  Food is fine one minute, then it can upset pouchy the next.  If it is the flu, Tylenol has a flu product out.  I would stick with water, broth, sf pop just like in the beginning.  I think there is a herbal tea - Calm Tummy, or something like that.  Pepto has asprin in it and can hurt in the long run.  I hope some of this helps.  And I hope you are feeling better.

Early on, the first few months, I tried but couldn't throw up...The worst feeling in the world.  Some people can't throw up...they try but post op, but can't do it.  When others do (including myself) it looks like baby spit up.  It could be that you dumped or had a partial dump.  Back to basics till the flu is over.  Try and get the protein in if you can.  Things like plain tuna, hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, whole wheat crackers, and soup might work.  Flu season is here...fun fun fun.  Brian
