Not good news!

I saw my GI doc today.  He said that when he scoped me 3 weeks ago, he noticed that the opening at the bottom of the pouch (entrance to intestines) isn't straight down the way it should be, it's off to the side.  So of course the food is just sitting in the pouch and not moving which causes me to vomit.  He is going to scope me again on Dec 23rd to check things out again.  He also wants to make sure the opening at the top didn't close back up since he stretched me. If it did he will stretch me again.

But he thinks I will have to go back to Dr. Chin to have him fix the problem surgically.  I have no idea what that entails.  I am so depressed about this news.

The thought of having surgery again scares the hell out of me, but the thought of spending the rest of my life like this, isn't too appealing either.

Thanks for letting me vent

I think the GI doctor is trying to do what he can without having to surgically repair the problem.  It just means liquids for a couple of more weeks.  I don't want surgery again.

And why on earth didn't he tell you that 3 weeks ago??

He was hoping that by taking care of the first problem that it would have taken care of it.  He was opening that the the bottom opening being off to the side, wouldn't be a problem.  But it is.  I guess since I am able to get my nutrition from liquids, it's not life or death, so he didn't seem to think It was a problem

You seem to be taking this a lot better than I would!

Yeah..........but he's NOT the one living on liquids and puking all the solids!  I'd call your surgeon and get him in the loop now.  Just my opinion.    Hang in there kid ........... at least they're narrowing down the problem!

Hi Maureen, Glad to see another Redding Person on here. I am considering the surgery. How has your experience with The staff at SRMC? I know they are going through adjustments right now. Has that affected your care or do you have any words for me? Thanks ! Jana
