I am post of 1 week and feel good. My wounds are not oozing but are very itchy and still red. Is this normal? Has any one experienced this? Thanks

Mine itched like crazy for a long time, it's generally a sign that the skin is healing. I tend to think that as long as they do not hurt or feel hot to the touch you are probably OK. When in doubt, call your surgeon!

Also, welcome to the losers bench!

Yeah I agree.  It's probably healing.  I know that my incisions always itch and it drive me crazy.  I use oils on mine, Vitamin E, or Aloe, seems to help them look better and heaven knows, I have an 18 hole golf course on my body from all my surgeries.

If it gets worse or becomes hot or swollen, check with your doc tho.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Hi and congratulations!
Yes, itching is normal..especially if they are dry..the skin is knitting itself back together.  With your Dr's permission try a dab of Benedryl creme or Vit. E..they used it on me while I was in the hospital on tape allergies...my skin is so sissy-lala sensitive..lol  I have surgery scars that are almost 10 yrs old and they still itch..so it will go on forever..just do as Diane says..Vit. E, or even a heavy healing balm is good.

My poor belly looks like a highway map with pot- holes! And I have used olive oil and it helps for the scaring and some of the itching. But, while they are healing they are just going to itch or at least that is my experience. Also,  tape is one of my enemies! I am sooo very allergic to ALL tape when I had knee surgery they just used medical super glue to close and it was wonderful...love that stuff.
Congratulations on your surgery and trust me it will get better soon.
