Case Management Appointment @ Kaiser Richmond Today
Congrats!! I just started the process, I was there yesterday for Orientation! We were told that at the Case Manager appointment to bring our calendar, becuase we will be givin a tentative surgery date! You will have to bring in your surgery test that you completed and you will go over things to help prepare you for your upcoming surgery! We were told yesterday that once you make it to your case manager appointment you could be having your surgery within 2 months. Thats all that I have so far, come back and let us know how it goes! Hope I was able to help a little bit!
Hi Princess P -
I'm at 3 months post-op with Kaiser Richmond. AllI can say is hold on to your hat...once you get to the Nurse Case Manager appointment you are in the home stretch and it goes very quickly. My waiting time from Nurse Case Manager appt. to surgery date was 2 1/2 weeks. At your appointment today they will schedule your surgery date, get you enrolled in the Post-op care and Post-op nutrition class, which occur on the same day and take about 2 hours each, they will schedule you for one last set of labs and an EKG and they will schedule your final pre-surgery appointment with your surgeon.
Congratulations to you on getting this far and wishing you the greatest continued success.

Hi Princess -
It is very normal to feel scared - this is a life changing time for you. But along with the scared, be excited and positive. Know that you are making a choice to live a healthier life and this is a huge step in getting there.
Having this surgery really was the best thing I have ever done for myself. The 24 hours following surgery, not the best hours of my life, but I got through them and have continued to do well with my eating and drinking and exercising. The pain was very minimal and I still have all of the pain meds that they sent me home with. The biggest problem that I had post op was nausea from the anesthesia - that lasted about 12 hours and then I was fine. Just take it slow and easy the first 2-3 weeks after you get home. Let your body recover correctly. To date I've lost 45 lbs in the 3 months since surgery and have about 38 lbs left to go. I feel so much better...I have energy, and endurance, my stomach feels satisfied after just a few bites of healthy food and my self confidence is at an all time high. Best of all, I am off of the 3 blood pressure meds that I have taken for over 20 years and my blood sugar levels instantly went down to normal after surgery.
I also loved going through the KP system - they are honest and caring and there are great before and after care programs. My feeling has always been that you get out of this process exactly what you put into it so if you are open and honest about your goals and do the things you are supposed to do, you should be just fine.
Let me know if you have any other questions, or feel free to PM me it you just want to chat.
I'm eagerly waiting for you to have your appointment today so that I can hear all about it!
