TAKE THE VITAMINS

So I took my bone scan on Monday.  Whew am I glad that I did, but to all of those that do not know, I was one of those people that thought I could get enough calicum from cheese, milk, etc, etc, but it doesn't happen that way.

Yesterday I started my Boniva.  My PCP was "SHOCKED" at how bad my bones were.  He says I am way to young, bless his heart, to be this bad.  I explained to him as to why, me being the smart ass that I am, thinking I knew more that the doc and not paying attention to the doctors instructions, and that my mom had a  severe case too.  Two doctors are blaming it mostly on the WLS itself.  The fact that we do not absorb nutrients and vitamins as we should.

So people, once again, I beg you all, TAKE THOSE VITAMINS.  As I learned in our last support group meeting, make sure you take your calicum 2 hours apart.  Your iron seperately from them, 2 hours from your calicum too.  So it basically is an all day event.  Keep your body and bones healthy, be smart, not stupid like me.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  I am thankful for all of you!

Love and hugs, Diane (7 weeks still in her sling with more to go)

Hi Everyone!

I haven't posted in a hundred years or so but I lurk a little...

On this note,  I have over $4500 in dental work necessary because my teeth are breaking.  From what the dentist told me, it's because I haven't been taking additional calcium and my teeth are very weak.

I feel like a hillbilly.....

Miss all of you tremendously!

Well you do live in Yucaipa and it's hilly there!  Sorry that you are having problems too.  I am taking 2200 mg a day of the Bariartric Advantage  Calcium.  I am sucking on those things all day long, every two hours.

I hope that you are well my friend and certainly glad to see you post.

Happy Thanksgiving to your family.

Hugs, Diane

P.S.  You look great!

Diane,
One of the side effects of Boniva is Gastric Distress.  You may want to check with someone to see if they want you to take prevacid or prilosec along with it.  I found this out as I was with a friend and we went to see our surgeon and we were reviewing the meds she takes and I read the package insert to the surgeon and he insisted taht she take either prevacid or prilosec with it.
Just a bit of info that I learned

Yes I was told that too, and I am taking something so I don't have any further problems.  The other thing the doctor says is that I need to make sure that the dentist knows that I take it, I don't know why, but it effects the teeth too.  Good grief.

Happy Thanksgiving Liz.

Love, Diane
