Good morning everyone!! Thanksgiving was nice. It was just me, Matthew and my mom. Dinner was nice too. I made turkey, mashed potatoes, rutabegas, green beans and rolls. My mom brought a pumpkin pie from Trader Joe's and I had already made a SF LF pumpkin cheesecake. Everything was yummy!! Especially the turkey and cheesecake.

Lu, DD and the family continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

I hope everyone has a great day. Hope you Black Friday shoppers got what you wnated without too many bruises...lol Matthew and I went pre-Black Friday shopping on wednesday and I picked up a better laptop at Best Buy than the one they have on sale for Black Friday. Plus I got 20% off my accessories.

Good Afternoon,

After, what I consider the worst Thanksgiving ever, I am glad to be home in my messy house.  My sister Patty, who never entertains guest has Thanksgiving, well she stressed out totally, I got thrown out of the kitchen along with my 2 cousins and we were just sitting on the window seat doing nothing.  It had to be the most dysfunctional family event I have ever been too.  It will never happen again.  If someone walks into my house in a bad mood, they are going home.  We WILL have fun.  Poor Dougie didn't even get to eat with me, he got called out to Landers for a fire investigation at 2:45 and was gone till 8 last night.  Every year we just hold our breath that he doesn't get called out, well this year, like last, he did.  I think he will take vacation time next Thanksgiving, they can just give it to someone else to work.  Anyway, we are outside in a bit to start putting up lights.  This is our favorite time of year.  I am keeping Lu and DeeDee in my prayers and thoughts.  I hope you all do the same.

Oh yeah, my baby sister Linda went out at 0630 and bought me a 16 person place setting at Kohls for 47 bucks, we went back at 0830 and got another one for the same price.  I FINALLY have enough silverware that matches for my guests when I have parties!!! YEAH!

Happy FRIDAY to all.

Love and hugs, Diane

I could never understand all the stress and bull crap people put themselves through just to over eat one meal???!!!!! I made my first Thanksgiving dinner at the age of 15 and it turned out perfect, there were only 9 of use but I pulled it off with no stress or bull crap.
I never considered making something a simple as roasting a freaking turkey hard work. I mean how hard is it...you dry it,stuff it, season it and stick it in the oven a few hours, later you put it on the table so people can gorge themselves!
Mom and I stayed home, just the 2 of us cause we don't do the family thing anymore because they are too much of a pain in the a$$. We had 1/2 a turkey breast, a little stuffing and low fat gravy that at one time I would consider to be a beverage.LOL I love good gravy! and we had Brussels sprout that I bought at the fruit stand still on the stock. Yummy!

As far as Black Friday... I NEVER have and NEVER will go shopping on that day. what little I will buy, I plan on doing on-line or it was done months ago.
I think Thanksgiving and Christmas have gotten totally out of hand. People spend outrageous amounts on Christmas. I have seen kids open gift, after gift, after gift, there are so many they don't even remember what they have received or who gave it to them. And they don't appreciate any of it. I just don't get it. Oh, and if Mom and or Dad can't afford to buy too many gifts they get depressed and stress out and feel guilty for not going into debt.
So, tell me were is the sense in all this??
Ok, I will get of my soap box.

HUGS
JOY

Hello Cali gang, I am cooking my Thanksgiving dinner today, DH had to work yesterday till 8pm, so I decided to have ours today.

I am not making the full blown meal. I am making Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravey, angel hair pasta for my kids, corn, carrots, crissants. Then I have a pumpkin pie for them and SF jello for me.

Next year I can make everything that I normally do.

I am not going shopping today either I saw the news today and man that is so crazy, and that poor family of the man at Walmart that got trampled to death, that is just so sad all over trying to get in the store to find deals. No deal in the world is worth someones life.

Anyway I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and have a great weekend.

Tomorrow we are going to my towns christmas tree lighting.

Afternoon . . . and happy Holiday Season everyone!  Well . . . I'm a shopper . . . not only today - but yesterday too . . . I was at Big Lots at 5:30 am yesterday and got myself a brand new rocker/recliner!!!  Then after we got it home in not to much rain, we went to Disneyland.  I'm SO GLAD I've never tried to take my grandson alone before . . . because his mom and dad had trouble with him . . . but my Myla-bird was a perfect angel and had a ball.  Then this morning I was at Office Depot at 3:30 - and I'm now typing on my brand new computer . . . I had to upgrade a level - but I'm happy with it and I don't have to fight with my old one anymore.  Now I just have to figure out all this new stuff!  We're having Thanksgiving dinner tonight when my daughter gets off work . . . but we're having filet mignon that she got on sale at fresh and easy. . . we'll cook the turkey in a couple days.

Chris
