a question regarding Dr Keshishian

I'm considering him for my revison surgery, but I'm wondering ... do any of you know about his "program fee?" I see it mentioned on his website, but there are no specifics.  I've heard great things about Dr Keshishian, and I'm in the information-gathering stage.

Many thanks!

I think is fee is 4000 for a revision to DS. It's 3000 for 1st time surgeries. It is not covered by insurance so you'd have to pay that fee plus whatever co-pays your insurance requires

Hey Kathy,

You might get more info on this doctor if you live up in Wash on the Wa website.  I have never heard of him, and if you are having a revision to DS, might wanna check out the DS site where maybe someone from there has used that doc

Good luck,

Diane

Hi Diane,

Nah ... going to the Washington State board won't help Kathy find info on Doc Keshishian.

Although our OP is in Washington state, Dr. Keshishian is located right here in California and has been doing wls for over 10 years.  He is located in Delano, just outside Bakersfield.

He primarily performs the DS.  RNYers/lapbanders unhappy with their weight loss or those who have regained seek him out for a revision to DS.

He is well known in revision circles as a highly skilled surgeon who is not afraid to take on difficult cases.

Kathy,

May I make a suggestion?  If you are seeking a revision and planning on coming to California anyway, why don't you contact Peter Crookes at USC.  1-800-USC CARE.

He is a skilled revisionist and does NOT charge a program fee.  Personally I feel program fees are worthless to an out of the area patient.   They are not covered by insurance and are supposed to cover followup support groups, nutrition support, etc.

Another choice is Rabkin in San Fran.  However he does not contract with any insurance co (hospital does though) and your out of pocket for the surgeon can run thousands of dollars.

Why don't you come over to the DS board here on OH and we'll answer all your questions!!

Best of luck!

Laurie
