My Gram

So on Thanksgiving we got great news, the Dr's said my Gram was showing improvement, and that she just may be able to pull out of this.. How exciting, HOPE is all I could wish for..

I guess it is meant to be a gloomy Holiday season, as we just learned that she has a major infection in her stomach. They need to operate to help clear this massive infection, but they don't think she will survive the Anastasia. So I guess there is going to be another meeting with the Dr's and my family.

I know it is an up and down road, and recovery was never promised, but I had hoped for a Holiday Miracle. I guess you are never prepared to loose a loved one, but it is just so much harder during the Holidays.. I don't want to bring the family or kids down, but I just feel this overwhelming sense of sadness. I know that it comes with this kind of thing, but never had anyone been so sick like this during the Holiday's in my family..

I know that your prayers and juju has really helped Lu Lu's sister, and Janine's son, so I ask that you too keep my Gram in your prayers as well.

TO all that has supported me with this, I can't thank you enough.. Liz, you have really been something special to me, and I have cherished all your advice, and you forever have a special place in my heart..

OH is truly a family, and I love my Cali Board family members..

Just want you to know your Gram is in my prayers---you have been sooo supportive .... glad to send some support back to you....
My Mom ( age 92) had a heart attack a couple of days after my surgery---followed by a stroke---she can't talk or eat----- I rushed to LA as soon as I could after surgery----it's sad because I know SHE is still in there--just cannot talk!! Not fair that after a person lives so long, they still end up with a long haul to recovery. And, like your Gram.... we are just in a holding pattern......praying and trying to help. For me, I was hoping to surprise her with my weight loss..... something that would thrill her as she hoped for me for sooo many years! Well--- she was surprised....... so that was all kind of bittersweet.
Hopefully your Gram is strong and that you are comforted knowing that this OH friend is praying for you.......

Hey girl, how are you? I'm so sorry about your mom, I'm praying for her!

Sorry I've been MIA lately, my brother was diagnosed with liver cancer last week, and it's too advanced to treat. I've been trying to spend as much time as possible with him, and trying to play mediator for the rest of my family (several members of my family haven't been talking to him since Dad died; the one good thing about all this is that everyone is talking again.)

I'm sorry, not trying to make this about me, just trying to explain. So do you know any more about a prognosis for your mom? Strokes are just so devastating, and I'm sure you're right, she knows you are there for her.

Hey, I asked Jenn if she wanted to get together this weekend, maybe all three of us can make a date of it? Have a little "family member in crisis" support group? Let me know.

Sorry you had to be supporting me this way, but I really appreciate it.. I am so sorry to hear about your mother.. Wow, can you beleive it, all this going on.. Lu Lu's sister, Janine's son, my Gram, De Anna's brother.. I can't believe it..

I will be keeping your Mom, along with Lu Lu's sis, Janine's Son, De Anna's Brother, along with all my other OH family in my prayers..

Jenn I am so sorry I know it is a very hard thing to deal with. I went through it a couple years ago with my great grandma. She managed to hold on until after the day of her Big B Day party in Feb and had a massive stroke that night and never came out of it. It had been our year to have her at Xmas but couldnt because she was too sick for the 2 hour drive and then after the stroke well Feb is a bitter month in our family. A year later to the day my Great Uncle died after being very sick during the Holidays. My thoughts, prayers, good juju and all that go out to you and your family!!!

Oh I am so sorry hun.. It is never easy loosing someone you love, no matter what time of year it is.. I will be praying for you and your family with all these Holiday's, and sad months coming..
