Who Inspires You?

I just registered to run in the Huntington Beach Half Marathon on February 1st. (www.runsurfcity.com) I was filling out all the usual questions they ask, name, age, address etc....

Then they asked "Who inspired you to run?"  I never saw that on a registration form before! For me, the first name I thought of was Kirsten,  that crazy running chick who got me started on this running adventure.

Thank you Kirsten for inspiring me to run, and believing that I could do it before I ever did.

I think it's a great question:  Who inspires you?

It might be someone from the boards, or someone in your life like your spouse or your kids.   Do they inspire to exercise? To eat healthier? To be a better person?   Share!!!!

Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

The first people I thought of on OH were - Liz, Luana, Kirsten, Vicki M - for their tenacity and to press on no matter what is thrown in their way.  Their strength is so beyond me.  For Nay, Marta, Lynnie, Michele, Deanna (Lompoc), The Clams - for the Laughter and Joy they bring into my life on an ongoing basis.  I treasure all of their friendships and am truely honored to be their friend.   My sister has a strenght and gentleness that keeps the family together.  She is my Rock and lives too far away.   We challange each other and bring out the best in each other.

awwwww.......you made me get a little teary....LOL

I told you over and over YOU can do it too!  And guess what?  I was right! :-)
I've never seen that before on a registration form either.....do I get something special for being listed?  Like a free race entry or something?  LOL

Who inspires me?  When it comes to exercise and staying healthy, nobody inspires me more than Kevin.  He always encourages me (although not always nice about it...lol), and constantly reminds me that I can do anything I put my mind to and work hard for.  He's helped me not give up even through some serious injuries and has listened to all of my whining (which has been a ton...LOL!).  He supports me every step of the way, whether he's out there with me, or in the case of the triathlon coming up, just cheering me on.  He inspires me though his dedication with his running and exercise (I don't know anyone who can force themselves to work out like he does)...if only I was half as dedicated as him I'd be kicking some serious butt with my running.

Mama Liz is directly responsible for me being the "crazy running chick" that I am.  If it wasn't for her, I would've never conquered half of what I have.  I've enjoyed the many pep talks she's given me, and hearing all her stories inspires me so much.  I remember her calling me during my first half marathon.....telling me that I can do it.  I think she's called me during almost every race I've done.  She has supported me 100% of the way, and even convinced me to run the LA Marathon.  I guess you could say she is to me, what I am to you.

And believe it or not....you inspire me too Monica!  To see you working to reach the goals that I once set for myself.  It helps me remember how far I've come, and makes me want to go even further and find new things to accomplish.  See....it's YOUR fault that we're doing this triathlon.  If you didn't inspire ME so damn much, I'd be happy being lazy and  letting you catch up to me.  But I have to make sure I keep upping the ante.....just remind me to STOP before I convince us to do an Ironman Triathlon some day!  LOL

How about a relay Ironman?  I'll do the 26.2 mile run, you can do the 100+ mile bike ride, and Monica can do that 2.5 mile swim (she looks way cuter in the swim cap and goggles than we do)!
