Ricki Lake in People online
Has anyone seen the article on People online about Ricki Lake? The title is "Ricki Lake, I can't believe I was fat" where she makes the comment "I didn't have surgery and I work hard". I was a little offended by that statment because it makes it seem like we took the easy way out having surgery. I truly believe that what we go through every day is hard work to take off weight and maintain this lifestyle.

I didn't see the article but I know that those who haven't travelled our journey have no idea. This is definitely not the "easy" way out. It is a total and complete lifestyle change. Having WLS is a personal decision that is not for everyone. I am glad that I made the decision, but to be fair it's not for all. Those who choose this road are courageous and have such inner stregnth I believe. So although Ricki didn't choose this path, and granted her path too was hard, but I wouldn't change my decision for anything. More power to her....

Heather,
I don't think anything, but I know this, losing 140 lbs any way you do is a BIG accomplishment....Maybe People Magazine asked her how she did it? There is no easy way out. Surgery, we give up a lot. Losing by dieting and exercise is dedication. It all boils down to the fact - CAN WE MAINTAIN?
