Update on my sister..

Yesterday, when I got there at 8, after working all night, she was sitting up in her chair, where she had been sitting for like 3 hours. She looked great. My sister and I washed her hair with a water less shower cap thing. WOW! Its smelled great and truly made her hair look and feel clean, and really shinny. About 9 the PT lady showed up and they took DD for a walk. She walked about 10 feet down then back for like a total of 20 feet. YAY!! The whole nursing station started clapping and cheers. I almost start crying. LOL

Then about noon, the Dr came and removed all her tubes and drainers. At one point the Dr, was asking my sister to take a deep breather so he could pull the drain out of her lungs. She took a breather, but not deep enough, so he told deeper, she looked at him and said, clear as day. “I am NOT going to give you a *******” I think Dr. Del Rio just about had his own heart attack. He took a few steps back from the bed side and said, “Oh my!” The nurse and I both just about pee’d ourselves laughing. It was so funny.

After that, I went home to sleep for a few hours, before heading back up at 5. I was sitting in her room watching her sleep and watching the porn channel. (Food Network) Then out of no where, all the bells and dings started going off. Her nurse was sitting out side of the room working on the computer, when I heard “oh ****” so I looked over and she had jumped up, I thought she spilled something, until I noticed that all the nurses where running to her room, yelling at me to GET OUT!!!. They where all yelling at DD to wake up. Stuff was happening so fast. I stood in the hall, watching a full code blue on my sister. WTF!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!! I know what is happening, but I refused to believe it. Yap, she had set of attacks. 3 of them in a roll. Some nurse came and pushed me outside of the ICU and told me some one would be out to talk to me in a moment. I didn’t even know I was crying until someone handed me a paper towel and told me to sit down. (not sure who it was) The nurse and the doctor came out and told me what had happened. Her right side of the heart, on the top, stopped working, so the bottom half was double timing it to keep stuff moving. WTF?? Why? They are not sure, but it might be because she lab levels might be to low. So they doubled up on her magnesium and potassium. I had called my sister and she got there just after the doctor left. I guess my face scared her and she started crying also. I explain what was going before we both went back in to the room to see for ourselves that she was doing better. The nurse told us, they could not do CPR on her, because her chest would just cave in. OH WTF! The left the "shock pads" on her, incase it happened again. This scared me even more. Talk about a LONG day.

After about two hours. (11 o’clock last night) I spoke with the nurse and thought it would be ok to come home and sleep, since I have to work today. At midnight the phone rang, I freaked out but found out it was my aunt, wanted un update. SHOOT!!

This morning they are putting her drain back into her lungs since she is having trouble breathing again. But nothing with her heart. Good news and yet bad. One step for word, to a years worth of steps back. SHOOT!!!!!!!!!!

OK my screw up day in nut shell. Oh joy!

Sounds like she was doing great and then, no she wasn't!  What are we going to do with that girl?  She just needs to pay attention to all of us and get better!  that is the simple of it all.  You have got to be exausted to the max.  I don't know how you are doing all this and working and leaping tall buildings in a single bound!  I hope you are taking care of you, that is so important now, even more than ever before.  If you need anything all you need to do is emai, call, scream, or telepathically let me know.  So get to it.
