In going through my bookshelves (yes, I am cleaning again), I came across a number of books I read in preparation for surgery, BUT to also learn the pros and cons of different surgery types.  I truly believe that we need to educate ourselves for any surgery.  The books also deal with aftercare- vitamins, protein and exercise.  You should be able to find the books at your local library, if you do not want to purchase.

Barbara Thompson - Weight Loss Surgery, Finding the Thin Person Hiding
Paula Peck - Exodus from Obesity
Carnie Wilson - 2 books (both are good)
Colleen Cook - Success Habits of Weight Loss Surgery (also has a Workbook)
Terry Simpson - Weight Loss Surgery - A Lighter Look at a Heavy Subject
Michelle Boasten - Weight Loss Surgery

Happy Reading!!!

I really liked "Emotional First+Aid: A Practical Guide to Life After Bariatric Surgery". It has some exercises to do pre-op, so it's not just "life after".

I didn't like WLS for Dummies though. It's probably best read by someone just starting research. Once you've done a bunch, there isn't enough new info, plus they tend to smoosh all the surgery types together and some of the info is out of date as well.

Thanks for the info.  I really liked the Barbara Thompson book because she went over all surgery types and pros/cons.  But since my surgery was 4 years ago, I hope that she has updated the information.  There were not alot of books out at my time.  I listened to Terry Thompson at an OH conference and he was a hoot.  Since he is a surgeon, he definitely has a different prospective.
