Hi, Cate.
I'm 48, too.
I had ordered some great gourmet cookies, lemon bars and brownies to have to offer folks a couple days before I had my third fill.
Well, after I had my third fill on a Friday, I had a big problem with New England clam chowder getting stuck and had a miserable out-of-town weekend and got an emergency unfill on Monday morning.
Tuesday afternoon, the baked goods showed up. Exactly what I did not want in my house, when I am on protein shakes and with an empty band. Except, instead of throwing them out (they were EXPENSIVE), I took them with me to work; I was in a class and people were really happy to have such yummy snacks to eat. Only one person said anything about the fact that I was drinking my protein shakes and didn't eat any of the baked goods.
Ultimately, the baked goods filled the purposed for which I ordered them, just in a different venue.
If there is a next time, think about making little plates or baskets for friends, relatives and neighbors. If this isn't your bag, it is okay to throw the baked goods out without feeling bad or guilty about it; after all, you invested the money and effort into making them.

Hi Cate,
150 pounds gone, WOW, your doing great and I'm very proud of you!
I loved to bake and cook and eat it all before WLS! Since surgery I still go nuts baking but I either change the recipes to be healthier, (so that I can have a few bites and not feel guilty), or I give it all away.
I don't care if anyone thinks I'm crazy but we have "house rules" - If I can't eat it, we don't have it in the house. Forces everyone healthier.
I was/am/always will be a sugar addict. I'm proud to say that because I know this I still haven't let sugar control my life as it once did. I'm ok with taking a bite of something and stopping or heck just saying no all together. I try to limit my sugar grams to single digits and that means lots of label reading.
We all have our "Food demons" in our life it's just a matter of learning to deal with them and take control, don't let them control you. MY DR likes to say I now think like a thin person, I'm not so sure I agree, but it does get easier as time goes by if you really work at it.
Best wishes to you!
