Its MY birthday and I AM HAVING CAKE!
Status check. Its been over an hour since my first bite of cake. At a small piece. With frosting and strawberry filling. I didnt even like strawberry filling preop. Now, cake never tasted so good. Probably 7 bites over an hour. So far so good. Of course, I feel guilty as hell. But it was awesome! Scale better still say 144 in the AM or I will never eat birthday cake again!!! Even the adults in my class said, "You have cake on your desk! Are you eatting that?" Said yes, and if I run out you will know I am puking my guts up for the first time! And oh, here's the sign up list for out potluck on Wednesday."
Happy Birthday and Yes//go ahead and enjoy.
WLS did not make our lives come to a stop..just more observant and accountable than your normal chow hound!. I have found that I may try a taste or two of an avoidance food if I have a full stomach (pouch) of protein first..I include all that I need in my meal, including some veggies. I wait for a few minutes of digestion..(love the gurgling..lol) say 15-20 minutes..then I sample my treat..just a few bites as I rarely have more room to comfortably fit anything more in. I eat it slowly and savor it..and it does take care of the satisfactory need of a "treat". This happens only once every 2-3 weeks and I am still not needing enough to go the path of destruction..lol I still like good old table food first...treats come in a distant second. I have yet to have a holiday treat, but I made some lemon pound cake with lemon creme cheese glaze (I made it!) and had a thin slice or two over 2 days..no problems...however I know that that might not always be the case. I just stick to my "protein first " rule...no treats on an empty stomach. My blood sugar stays well under control with this method also. Its tried and true..the experts are right!
