I Need Help Finding A Psychologist

Greetings All   I need some assistance; I am looking for a psychologist who takes Blue Cross & Blue Shield, PPO to do my pre bariatric surgery evaluation. He or She needs to be in the Northern California Area. 5 doctors I have talked to said BC & BS won’t pay for a Bariatric Psychological Evaluation. Before I spend the cash I would like to find out if there is a doc out there who will take my insurance.

Go to your member services department with your insurance.  They could tell you some names in your area.

Hi Doc,

You know I didn't have to pay extra for any pre-surgical work to be done.  I had blue cross ppo at the time.  I called and spoke with my insurance company direct on everything, and when I found the doctor that I liked the best, he had everyone under one roof.  I only went to his office for all of my pre op work and evaluations.  You might want to keep in touch with your insurance company and see if they have a list of shrinks that will take care of your pre op work that will be covered by your insurance.

Linda Passey in Pleasant Hill, CA did my eval and I have Blue Shield HMO and it was paid for.  She was very nice and works closely with the bariatric program at John Muir in Walnut Creek & Concord.

Call member services. I have Blue Shield of CA and they referred me to a psychologist WITHIN their network and paid for it all!

Call Dr Jossart's office.  He has an on-staff psychologist (Tara) and there is another one who works independantly as well. I'm sorry I can't remember her name but if you tell the office she goes to the Petaluma support group meeting, they'll know her name.  If they don't, PM me and I'll ask around.

PS.  He's in San Francisco but I did my psych eval over the phone because I'm 3.5 hours away.
