Migraine Headaches
I have never had a migraine but there is always a first time I am sure. My MIL gets them and said it sounds like what I have.
I have had a headache that sort of comes and goes, it is on 1 side of my head located on the side/back left side. It sort of feels like a hammer hitting my head. It came on Friday morning, peaked Friday night and I put ice on my neck and my head and it seems to subside. It went away for the most part yesterday and came back late afternoon today. Again I put the ice on and it seems to subside. Tylenol doesn't seem to cut it. Any headache I ever had (and I don't get many) are resolved with Tylenol or a little rest.
I have had a LOT of emotional stress this week with finding out my position has been elimiated as of June, and from what I read on WebMD this can bring on this type of headache. It also said it is not unusual for them to last 72 hrs.
I know no one is a Dr. but I am just curious if this sounds like a migraine. If it lasts until tomorrow I will call the Dr but just was curious and kinda nervous because I have never had this type of thing before.
Thanks for your input.

Those are the things Elfie is thinking of.

I am not trying to scare you, but since you have never had a history of migraines before, I want to ask...
Do you have any of the following other symptoms?
SUDDEN numbness or weakness of face, arm or leg - especially on one side of the body.
SUDDEN confusion, trouble speaking or understanding.
SUDDEN trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
SUDDEN trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination.
SUDDEN severe headache with no known cause.
It probably is just a headache, and I am no doctor, but if it keeps giving you problems, or if you have any of the other symptoms, by all means see a Dr.
The symptoms I gave can be found on http://www.stroke.org/site/PageServer?pagename=SYMP
Highest Weight: 283.4
Weight preop: 273
Current Weight: 219.8
Goal Weight: 150
Thanks Elfie. I won't start my pre-op diet until Jan 2ns. While I have been trying to "watch" what I eat, I think I have probably O.D.'d on sweets, which I will focus on cutting out this week.
Perhaps my body is telling me enough is enough eh? The ice is the best as it does seem to subside it though. We went to dinner and a movie last night and thank goodness it didn't bother me then.

Hi Barb,
Sadly, I am a migraine sufferer. I've had about 17 in this past year alone. I have to go and get them evaluated.
Anyways, when I get migraines they are constant pain in my head, I am very sensitive to light and I completley nautious. I usually can't even keep water down. It's pure misery.
I take Maxalt for my migraines. It is not an NSAID, and they make a tablet that dissolves on your tongue.
I hope you feel better soon,
Renee
Good luck, Diane
