Hi All I have been told by Blue Cross, of the 3 facilities my doctor is associated with I have to go Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose, because it is a bariatric center of excellence. Can anyone tell me anything about this hospital or it staff ?   Thanks Doc

Good Sam is a great hospital.  I had my surgery at Fremont Kaiser (which is also a center of excellence) but my son had surgery at Good Sam when he was 5 years old.  Their nurses are fantastic, at least the nurses that I had the good fortune to deal with.  If Good Sam is a center of excellence, that means they have gone through a much more stringent certification process specifically for WLS ... which is a good thing.  I hope all goes well!

Doc,

It's a good hospital I use to work for them, and my son had a couple of surgeries there.
Good luck.

Who's your doctor? (She asks nosily...)

I was self-pay so I got to go to CPMC but all of my doc's BC patients go to Good Sam.

Hello MacMadame,

It its nice to see a familiar face.  I used to hang out on the VSG site before surgery.  I was hoping for the VSG but  a few days before surgery i was told the insurance  would only covere the RNY.  I do miss the VSG board, it was so helpful and it felt like family,  I do not have that same feeling on the RNY board.  So I branching out to the Califorinia board, and December 08 board.

Thanks,
Julia

I remember you!

The Sept. 08 board is kind of dead. Is the Dec. '08 board better?

It is a small group, but it is helpful since we are going through the same thing.  Feel free to offer advice anytime.
