Hair lose???
Joy,
I feel your pain. I started with a very thick head of hair. I hate running my fingers through my hair, showering and brushing as I want the chunks of hair fall out. I have read it usually starts at about 3-4 months post-op and last until 7-8 months.
Let's hope we don't have to shave and tattoo our heads, but if we do maybe we can do it together.

It will stop soon, hang in there. Mine started right about 3 months post op, and went on for about 2 1/2 months. I just had it happen again with my plastics, but it was even worse. Finally it just stopped falling out, out of the blue. It was weird, like one morning I was brushing it, and maybe a few hairs fell out...I was ecstatic!
Everyone has certain things they used that worked or didn't work for them...it's different with everyone. I washed my hair with Nioxin and used the conditioner also. It didn't help with the loss, but it made my hair look thicker. I also took Omega 3 Fish Oil tablets, and I still do. It helps with the dryness I also experienced. My hair had never been dry until after wls.
Hope this helps.

Joy,
I heard that you need to get in your daily minimum requirement of protein. All those pills and other stuff, I don't think it works and a big waste of money. I was losing my hair due to my thyroid med. Thats why I cut my hair off short. The shorter the hair the better. Don't bru**** use a wide tooth comb. I hope it passes soon, not a cool thing to happen to any of us losers. Take care sweetie. Big Hugs..........

Marcey, I never brush and we have t take our vitiamns and I get more that than the RDA of protein and then some. The thing that ****** me off so bad is I have had 9 surgeries in the last 6 years and this is the first time I have had the hair lose issue!!! Grrrrrrr. And, I agree short is better for now, I have an appointment in a few days to whack it off!!!!!!! Not that there is all that much to cut now.!!

I don't have any other advice for you that hasn't already been said hunny, but just wanted to give you a big 'ol (((((((HUG))))))) I haven't lost any of my hair, but with my DH being such a hair nut.. LOVES LONG HAIR, I am afraid of the mess I am going to be in, and afraid that I am going to want to cut it.. We will just have to see..
Hold your head up high, and know that I would rather loose my hair and gain my health, then have a full head of hair and be so very unhealthy.. (cliche I know, but true)
I hope it stops soon for you...
Big Hugs
