I am three and a half years out of RNY.  I have lost about 170 pounds and I have been working out at the gym religiously for three years now.  A few hours a day, three days a week. I thought I was in shape.

Hahahaha, Let me tell you after my first hour long Yoga class I realize just how OUT OF SHAPE I still am.  I hurt already!  I don't know If I will be able to move tomorrow...  But I will do it again.  I am not afraid of pain and I know I will be able to tone up more with the Yoga.  After I get this class down I will move on to the Pilates.

Happy New Year to you all.

Thanks Joy.  Yeah, Pilate's are much harder, I figure it will be a while before I am ready for them.  But that is ok, as long as I keep moving forward and the weight stays off, I am good.

It's deceptively hard, isn't it????  I used to do yoga pre-WLS and found it really relaxing to stretch out all my muscles.

I was just reading last night about how yoga and pilates conditions your breathing to become a better runner and increase the oxygen going to your blood while running.  I might try it again just for that....

Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

Hi Monica,

You look soooo good.

I still need to work on the breathing part but I can see how it can help a runner with their breathing.  I would love to do another marathon like the 4th of July one in HB again. One of my goals for next year.

Take care
Laura
