Good mornin' Cali Friends,

Today and Friday are shoppin' days to get ready for next my surgery next Thurs.  Fortunately,  my antibiotics are smackin' the snot out of the bronchitis I had and I am feelin' really good about next week.

My wonderful angel and secret pal Lola sent me a great big envelope full of protein samples but also suggested that I have some RTD on hand.  I would love some suggestions on your favs and where to buy them.

I will also be going to get my liquid vitamins and stuff too, so any ideas on good tasting stuff is always appreciated.

Thanks for your help and I wish you and yours a very Happy New Year.

Stay warm and safe

My favorite RTD is by Premier and simply called Protein - 30g protein - and the only place I have found it is Costco.  I still drink one a day because I simply cannot eat enough protein . . . so that is my two cents . . .

Sheryl in So Cal introduced it to me on our camping trip last August . . . best "hint" I ever got!

Best of luck to you!

Chris

Chris,

Oh wow, thank you.  I was just at Costco yesterday but need to go back to return some jeans for my husband.  Is it usually found by the pharmacy?  Does it come in flavors?

It's in the pharmacy area . . . $23 and change for 18 - but only comes in chocolate . . . but best amount of protein per container I've found.

I like to have the Worldwide Protein from Trader Joe's on hand.  They come in 3 flavors, and 2 amounts of protein.  They might be too thick for you in the beginning.  I also use Unjury after any surgery, cause they mix smoothly and are not thick.  Unjury has a banner somewhere around the site.  Can only get from them.  Otherwise, do not buy too much.  Keep your receipts.  Have fun shopping.

Leann,

Thanks, I love TJ's and I will check for that too.  I will see if I can find Unjury on line somethere.

Thanks so much for the suggestions.  I won't feel like I am going so blindly forth.

Happy New Year's to you.

I agree with Chris S.  I buy the premier from Costco as well.  It doesn't taste bad at all and it's 30g for 1 shake.

Has anyone tried the Premier bars?  I'm still not sure how many grams of sugar we can have after surgery, and theirs are like 10g per bar.

Hi Barb,

My advice is don't buy large quanties of anything, as your taste may change after surgery.

My favorite that I still drink because I like them is:

Designer Whey French Vanilla (you can purchase at Trander Joe's or The Vitamin Shop).
Hood Calorie Counter Chocolate Drink (this is difficult to find in So Cal - I get it from a Low Carb Shop in Tustin)
5 - 6 ice cubes
Toroni or DaVinci flavored syrup (I like banana, carmel, raspberry... it's nice to change it up)

Throw it all in the blender.

Note: If I can't find Hood Chocolate drink, I use low fat milk or soy milk. Sometimes I buy the chocolate protein powder with white milk.

Good luck to you... finding a protein drink you like can be very helpful.

Thanks Christina and Patty.  I hear you on the large quantities.  I want a sampling and then if I have left overs that I didn't like or just don't use, I will be happy to share them with someone who may want to try them out 1st.

Thanks again for your suggestions.

Happy New Year.
