Hi everyone..
I was just wondering if anyone has tried the new chewable multivitamins by Bariatric Fusion?  They say that it has the calcium and iron it it so you don't have to take so many pills everyday.  I requested a free sample, but just wondered if anyone had tried them out.

Have a great weekend!

Ok here is the scoop on vitamins, make sure you take them, don't take iron and calicum together, take calicum citrate with D, if you are on blood thinners, no K. If your not then the d and k in them are fine.  Do not take all of your calcium at one time, take them about 2 hours apart, take your iron at least 2 hours inbetween, and don't complain about how many pills you take a day, just do it.  If you don't, for those of you who know me, know what I have been through for those that don't, I have bones like styrofoam.  You can bet this chick ain't complaining about anything and I can only wish that back when I started someone really drilled into my head how really important all that stuff is!

Good luck, Diane

You are very welcome and glad that you will take advise.  Also drinking alot of milk and cheese products, with RNY still go through our systems really fast.  All my blood work was perfect for a year, no problems seen until they went in and I had shoulder surgery and my bones won't even hold an anchor to keep my rotator cuff in place.  I had surgery, knee replacement, 6 months prior and there was no bone problems seen, so within 6 months I was depleted.  I can only warn you of what can happen, but listening to your doctor is better than me because individual people are all different.  I don't have any chewables, I just take the pills, never had a problem with any pills going down.

Good luck with your surgery at the end of the month sweetie, you will do great and think ahead of how wonderful things will be this time next year.

 Hey Christina,

Dr. Dutta told me that my iron was fine when they did my blood work, and that I didnt need to worry at this point to take any.  They said when they do the blood work 6 months out and check my iron again that if it looks like I may need it, then to start taking it.
I have not yet started Calcium + Vit D, but I have been drinking a lot of Milk.  I hope to get out this weekend and find those darn chewable citrates...but I have had no luck so far.

Bariatric Advantage has chewable calcium citrate, but I don't think you will be able to find them anywhere other than on the internet. You can purchase them either directly from Bariatric Advantage or from Vitalady, and her price is better.
The chocolate and the wild cherry are ok. The mint flavor is very minty. I haven't tried the cinnamon. They each contain 400 mb of calcium citrate and they don't include iron (I don't understand why the Bariatric Fusion would contain iron - the iron competes for absorption with the calcium and the iron wins, so you are taking in less calcium than you think with a combination formulation).

I take Bariatric Fusion and love em.  My labs have been great!  My doctor told me iron (7.5mg)does not compete with calcium in such small amounts.  Good luck.

Thanks Suzie,
I tried the samples they sent me, and I really liked them.  Plus, it's 4 tablets a day, and no other vitamins, so I really want to use them.  I talked to the people that make them, and they assured me that they are made to the correct amounts, and by doctors that do the surgery so it's fine.  But, I'm going to take the info with me to my preop appt next Friday and see what my surgeon says.  I've never been good about swallowing pills.. I hate it, and I haven't had surgery yet, so these would work great.

Good luck.  These are all my doctor recommends.  I love the fact that they were made by medical professional that deal with patients and have lots of experience.  My B12 and iron both improved and my nails are growing.  I could never grow my nails-go figure
