Hello my name and Jenny and I have my Surgery for Jan 13th a week from this Tuesday.  I feel like the time is going to go by fast.  Yes I am nervous. Do they really have you walk into the room where you get your surgery because if they do than I will freak out.  I am excited at the same time.

Hi and welcome...I did not walk into the OR -  I was on a gurney and had already been given the "heppy drug" so I don't remember much until I woke up many hours later.  You are gonna do great.....hang in there and this is going to be the ride of your life....congrats on starting your new life,
Jean

Thank you for the note back.  I hope they give me my drug as soon as I walk in the door.

Jen,

Congratulations on your upcoming surgery.  Will you be at UCSF?  I will be there next Thurs.  Did you have your meeting with the anesthesiologist?  When I met with mine I told her I will be nervous and she said she would give me medication to relax me in the surgery prep area.  She said I could also bring my iPod, which will help me alot.  No worries, you'll do great.  Please keep in touch and I will do the same.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I took mine to the hospital too.  I eeded it more at home the week before though.  By the time I got to the hospital I was so ready I wasn't nervous. :-)

Hi Jenny and welcome.  Yes, Dr C and Dr J really do have you walk into the OR.  Dr J alked in with me and the nurses there were wonderful and made me feel comfy.  In short order the anesthesiologist was there asking questions and then I was asleep. No counting backwards, I was just asleep and woke in the recovery room after what seemed like a few seconds.

The C ad Dr J are in the top 5 in the country for lap WLS so take comfort in having the best and enjoy your stay.  The one thing I would recommend is to take your own protein powder.  I didn't like what they served in the hospital, it was too sweet. :-)

I go to the Petaluma support group meetings, if you're near there I'll see you at the meeting on the 17th.  Yep, if you're having it lap, you'll probably feel well enough to be there. :-)  I felt no pain at all and was walking within 2 hours after surgery.

Enjoy the ride,

Hi Jenny,  I'm excited for you. I didn't have a lot of time to be nervous. I asked my Dr. if at all possible I need this done before Jan. because of insurance details. That worked out really good for me, had 3 days notice before surgery.
I've never heard about walking into the surgery room. From the time I went into the Hospital they started taking care of me. There was absolutely no time to worry. Before I knew it they were telling me it's over, wake up! Of couse I did and my new life started. HURRAY
Best wishes,
njo
