Happy Monday Cali
Happy Monday to all of you in Cali and I hope that all of those who are returning to the dreaded four letter word...."work" has a great day!
I surely thought I would be prepared to go back to work. Getting up was no sweating, but I did not plan a dang thing and I am a bit worried about how 1st and 2nd period are going to go.
I am happy to say that even though I wasted my day yesterday, it was productive in the sense I got Best Buy to take back the computer I bought a few months ago and exchange for a computer that would work for me and my InDesign bundle. Yay!!!
Bad thing about yesterday and even today is that I have to face the world after being bit in the face by a dog Saturday night. My friends dog was on top of the sofa and I leaned back and the little **** bit me right between the eyes. It looks horrible...you know like bad plastic surgery or something...not to mention that it hurts. I am quite frankly pissed about it because they did not remove the dog nor did they even say they were sorry. I am pondering this one.
Anywho....Rick is off to have his surgery today....makes sure you stop by his post and send him some well wishes!
To all of you....have a super great day...you all deserve it!!!
“When you find peace within yourself, you become the kind of person who can live at peace with others.” –Peace Pilgrim (1908-1981).
Good Morning Cali!!!
Yes it is back to work today......I'm curious to see what the New Year will bring at work, like the wage cuts, etc.
Janine - I hope you feel better soon and I am sorry that they didn't even apologize to you. I know that must not make you feel too good either.
I hope you all have a great day! How many surgeries this week? 3 or 4??? How exciting!!! Don't worry, lots of room on the "Loser's Bench!"
Love, Jeni
UGH! I hate mornings, unless I get sleep in, then I love them. My throat is sore and I have the starts of a mean URI. All I want to do is sleep, and yet I can't. What up with that? Have you ever notices that if you set your alarm to get up a set time, you can't sleep, but as soon as that alarm goes off, if you where able to, you could sleep like a log. But there is a reason you set the alarm, so you can't sleep, you have to get up and get moving. UGH!
Check this out, the computer dorks at work didn't change the year in the computer system so right now the computer dose NOT except the year 09 as a true year. I am the only one able to do the work, because of my "update" aprovel that I have. So I have been doing all the computer work. ALL of it. So even though I am feeling like poop I have to go, so I can do the billing and make sure that I.T. works on this problem.
Coffee is done, so I guess I should get up and get some or I might fall asleep. I wish each and everyone of you a great day.
In the words of someone: Stay alert, stay alive.
LOVE YA !!

Gee, yesterday morning I was planning on heading back to work this morning but around 11am brother Walter called and was concerned about Mom who hadn't felt well since Friday. I spoke to her and she wasn't herself for sure. D and I headed over to see what the situation was. She couldn't really put her finger on it saying she didn't feel right, felt crappy. Couldn't eat, hadn't since New Year Day when we were there. Couldn't get up or down, too weak. Had become incontinent. No pain, fever, nasuea. Was having breathing difficulties. So, as I told her 5 years ago this month when she got pnuemonia and wouldn't, we were going to the ER and not wait a week to see if she "got better". I know she was feeling badly as she didn't argue the point. Called 911 and we were at the hospital ER by 1pm.
A heart attack or stroke was ruled out but something wasn't right with her heart. Well they were BUSY and short staffed in the ER so they sent her in the wheelchair to sit and wait to be seen with D and I in the ER waiting room. Always a zoo as many of you probably know!

After getting her in the bed and hooking up the monitor the Dr came by and spoke to us. He said it was an odd heart rhythm going on and brought in an EKG to check it. Sure enough that was confirmed by the EKG. They suggested a drug to "shock" the heart back to a normal beat which we agreed to. They brought the drugs in for the proceedure but asked me to step out while they administered it as it is weird to feel for the patient and they stay with the patient while watching how it goes. I hear them telling her to relax, take deep breaths.... then the head Dr came over and the lower dose didn't do what they wanted so they doubled to the normal dose and gave it to her.... this time it seemed to work. Dr's spoke to me and said it looks OK for now but, of course, they would need to find a bed for her and keep her for more tests, today, and to have a cardiac specialist see her. Well she had NO intention of going home feeling the way she was so no problem. I couldn't sit with her at that point as the nurse was sitting with her for observation so I went outside in the cold air for a cig and to call my brother and D.
Went back in about 6:30 and the nurse was gone and I figured Mom must be OK at this point. We chatted and she was feeling better, not good, but better and complained of being hungry. I said but Mom you haven't been able to eat in over two days.... she said, well I guess my appetite is coming back. Guess that was a good sign. Spoke to the nurse and they had no idea when she would get a bed upstairs. Mom told me she was fine and to go home under the cir****tances. I left my phone number on her chart and told the staff to let me know if anything comes up and headed home. Got home about 8 and D made me a ****tail. Whew, what a day.
I am going to see her this morning first thing and will see about work after I check out the situation. I'd like to hang out and talk to the Dr and nurses to get a feel for what we have going on here. Oh, yeah, the condition is Atrial Fibrillation and I guess it isn't that uncommon in older folks, and at 87 Mom is an older folk!
Sorry for the novel this morning guys.... started writing and could not stop myself!

Anyway you all have a great back-to-work-Monday and thanks for "listening"!
(((((BigBearHugz)))))
To the rest of my crew - happy monday and to those going back to work - hope its not to hectic.
Janine - that is awful that your friends did not even say sorry about the dog.....nor remove the dog....whats up twith that.....and are they gonna pay the Dr bills if the need arises? THEY BETTER....I am so sorry you are having to start the week like that....want me to come and kick that dogs arse for ya? lol
Today for me just brings errands.....Sams club, eye Dr to order my new specs, and lots of phone calls to set up appts for my pre op and all that for my plastics.
And tomorrow is the biggest day - my last day of smoking....but I know I can do it BECAUSE I HAVE TO....so my plan it to walk alot - just go out and walk every time I want a cig.....that should be a good thing...and I am stocking up on SF popsicles big time to curb the hand to mouth thing to replace the cigs...
So happy monday everyone - stay warm...I don't know about where you are but it is super cold here this morning.
Hugs to all....
I know you can quit! I quit in 1978. I was at 2.5 packs a day, if you can imagine. So I know you can. :-) My gf quit smoking a year ago with an Rx her doctor gave her. www.chantix.com She had tried several times over the course of 20 years and this just made it easy for her. Good luck whatever path you choose. I'll be here rooting for you!
Hugs,
