Jen,

My surgery is this coming Thurs and I have been on the liquid diet since last Friday.  Do I feel hungry, sure.  I am allowed 3 Slim Fasts and then broth, tea or coffee with sweetener and some sf jello.

I have done medifast before and one trick is to drink the shake and then do a full cup of water as a chaser.  It really helps give you the full feeling.  The halfway between that shake and the next one, I drink hot tea (herbal) in the morning or broth in the afternoon and then save my sf jello for a snack at night.  By spacing it out, I actually do pretty well.

Best of luck to you and please keep us posted on your success!

I had 2 weeks of liquid diet and thought my life was coming to an end.  One day won't kill you, it won't even be a problem, your body will be fine.  Now the 2 weeks, you can't believe how cranky your body will get with you.  Just drink alot of stuff, propel, water, stuff like that, you will be fine and good luck on the surgery!

I made sure that most of my fluids were broth and fortified waters/SF jellos.(SF  popsicles on a hot day..lol)  The hot broth can be supplimented with cooking in some extra veggies and meat (or tofu)..then strain them off, freeze for after surguery when you are on soft foods.  You get added nutrients but no solids.  Even now I will drink a 3 cup measure of toasty broth or protein style hot cocoa.  My pouch handles warm liquids very well.  I had to do the full liquid for 3 days and clear liquid for 24 hours.  I was actually glad to keep filled with non-solid food as often as I wanted it...took alot of pressure off and kept my tummy filled and warm. Ask family members to help out by NOT asking you to prepare meals for them...get microwaved meals for them or have another adult prepare the meals.  This is your time to reflect and relax...and fear not, your normal eating days are NOT over.  (I enjoyed a good 5-6 pieces of honey glazed shrimp over New Years week, ofcourse NO RICE OR EGGROLLS..lol..no problems at all!!)  It is portion control (and wise choices) that ultimately are the tool's best friend and between your brain, your will and your new pouch, you will succeed!
Many happy wishes and comfortable days ahead m'dear!!
