Blue cross of California

Who you go to depends on where you live.  There are centers of expertise all over California.  I live in Central (coast) Calif. and they sent me to Dr. Higa in Fresno.  He has the best reputation for our area, besides the surgeon I wanted who is in my home town, but not approved by BC.

You can go on-line for the list of surgeons, or just give them a call and ask who is the approved WLS for your plan.

My BC of California is a PPO Plan.  I have to use a provider affiliated with my policy.  My surgeon insisted on the primary care physician's referral to him.
