Osteoarthritis in my hips . . .

Just got back from the doctor . . .and found out why my hips are hurting . . . good 'ole osteoarthritis . . . and the main thing is to "lose more weight" . . . but he also put me on Voltaren . . . which I said "no nsaids" . . . and then he said there is nothing else he could do for me . . . take tylenol arthritis twice a day  . . . but he said check with my surgeon . . . who said "you're lapband . .  you can take the nsaids" . . .OMG we were told from day one "NO" . . . but now they are saying since I'm lapband and not bypass it's ok . . . do you know how many times I wanted to take naproxen and didn't because of that rule?

Anyway . . . hope this will control it for years . . . don't want to do hip replacement!

Chris,

I am so sorry you are hurting.  Isn't it amazing how they change their minds LOL

I am holding out good thoughts that this will do the trick.

Hang in there,

Barb

Chris,

Thank you SO much.  Lola is my surgery angel and my husband will call her as soon as he gets the word from my doc that all is A-ok.   I know she will post.

Hugs,
Barb

How about taking Celebrex?  I for one take it for my osteoarthritis, and I know alot of others that are on here that have had RNY that take it.....ask him about it.  I hate when doctors don't know the rules to start with, I had to remind my cardiologist who wanted to put me on aspirin and get me off of coumiden, and I had to remind her, NOPE can't have them.  That is why I always say, knowledge is power.

Give him a call, I find that the Celebrex really does help me alot.

Good luck, Diane

I also take Celebrex.  And I have had no problems.  As far as I know, it is the only nsaid that is gentle on the pouch.  But, I have not even thought that it might be different for a lapband.  Have you asked on the Lapband board about it?  ***Edit - sorry, I saw that you did.  Goofy me!!   Good Luck.

I'd give up a kidney for an Aleve...I have degenerative bone disease in my saecral area (tailbone).  Tylenol doesn't do a thing...so I cringe when I sit or stand.  I am going to look into the Celebrex also...the commercials scare me, with all the "side effects", but I'd rather test it out than be in agony everytime I sit down or stand up.....know what I mean?  I would like to be able to put away a few of my donut cushions..lol

I've decided getting old just generally sucks . . . but we do what we have to in order to get by . . . all I know is that if I was as heavy as a year ago .. . I'd be in agony now . . . so I'm loving my band some more!

Good luck everyone!

im wondering now if I possibly have Osteoarthritis in my  hips, never had any pain in my hips prior to surgery but do now,, have for a while now,, but you would think being nearly 300 pounds I would be in pain, not now, but then again maybe that 300 pounds hurt me then and Im just now feeling the effects?
Something Im going to check in to...
