Look on my profile. There's a link to my husband's profile on there. Dr. LePorte did his surgery which took a very long time for approval and involved a lot more than most surgeries. My husband started out at 677. He lost just over 40 pounds on his own. Then Dr. LePorte and Dr. Elliott performed a panniculectomy removing 95 pounds of his pannis (spelling?) Then a few months later Dr. LePorte performed his open gastric bypass.
Dr. LePorte saw us through two and a half years of fighting for his surgeries. He went to bat at every opportunity for my husband. I just can't say enough good about him. The cardiologist told us my husband wouldn't make it to 40 without these surgeries, and last July was his 40th birthday.
ALSO, my husband had Bacterical Meningitis in May of 2007. Dr. LePorte came to see him in the hospital...........as someone who cared, not a doctor who charged us anything. He made sure Dave (Harley) got a good Infectious Disease doctor and kept checking on us for the entire month in the hospital.
OK OK, I've made my point. He's a wonderful surgeon and person.

I'm the husband that had bacterial meningitis. :-D
Dr. LePort - if you can get him - I'd 150% endorse him.
The man, back when no one else would even talk to me, gave me a chance, hooked me up with the right people to make things happen, and has gotten me through this journey.
I'm not going to repeat everything my wife said - she said it all.
If you can get him - do it. Absolutely. The man knows his stuff.

Hi there
Yes Dr LePort is great but so are the other surgeons in his group. I went to them initially wanting Dr LePort - but he is by far the busiest in the practice (or he was at the time I went) Anyway I went with Dr. Mir Ali and he is awesome....I know many people who have also used Dr. Chin and Dr. Francis and love both of them as well. I truly believe you would be in great hands with any of the surgeons in that office.
Good luck and keep up posted.

What Jean said is absolutely true. My husband had Dr. LePorte, but my surgeon was Dr. Ali. While I was in the hospital, I was visited by the other surgeons in their practice and they're all wonderful. Dr. LePorte is very busy and if you insist on having him, chances are good your surgery date will be much further out.
