Dr. Peter C Leport
Yes the website is empireblue.com and you have to search under national search and I cant seem to find nothing but see I called new reflections and they are out of network and a nice lady there gave me the name to lite dimensions and said to try to see dr le port and she had asked the girl there if they took my insurance but now i am confused because now I probably will need a referral and dont know if my pcp is in their group I am just so CONFUSED

I don't blame you for being confused after I visited empireblue. Yikes! Anyway, the good news is that your epo covers fv hospital and orange coast which are the hospitals LePorts group uses. Also, I had blue cross and had my surgery with them, so there's a chance they accept your insurance. Finally, based on the info from empireblue, you will not need a referral once you find a surgeon in your network. So, I'd get on the horn with Smart or Lite Dimensions. I think that's your best bet!

If you have a HMO you can only use Dr. Le Port if your PCP refers you to him. If you have a PPO you can self refer to him if he's an in network provider for your insurance.
I know we talked about this before in PM but I can't remember. If you have a HMO and self refer to Dr. Le Port and he's not in your medical group, they will not pay for surgery with him (they will not even pay for your consult). Dr. Le Port may be a provider (in network for empireblue) but that doesn't mean he's a provider for your medical group. If you have a HMO then you need to go back to your PCP and ask him to refer you to a bariatric surgeon. The medical group will send you to whomever they contract with. If they don't contract with anyone (which I highly doubt since there are so many RNY surgeons available now a days) they will have to refer you out of network if you meet their criteria for WLS.

Dr, LePort is Great! I had him as my surgeon almost five years ago
and would not have gone with any other surgeon. He is very up front
and honest and tells you just exactly how it is. I have had not a single
compliacation or problem since my surgery 03/15/04. I continue to see
him on a yearly basis and he continues to encourge me to stay on track
with my vitamins, protein and excersise. I have had several friends that
had WLS with other surgeons in his office but I choose Dr. LePort after
much research and by talking with many that had him as their surgeon
and had zero complications. The main thing is that you need to feel
100% percent comfortable with your choice.
