Anyone from the Monterey area? I've been here 5 months and would like to get into a support group (I'm 3+ yrs. out) and meet new people.

Hi Bec:

I know there are plenty of people in your area. DeAnna and Jaime C to name two that I know for sure and then sooner or later Lola is going to move there also. I know they have get togethers around your area. Probably have not seen this post yet either.

However, start posting regularly on the Cali boards and you will find people in your area!

Welcome to our boards and to the beautiful state of CA!!!

Hi Janine,

Thank you for your reply. I agree...Cali is beautiful. Everywhere I go I have beautiful views of the bay. Though I do have to admit Monterey is the coldest place (year around) I've ever lived! We arrived in early August and had to buy winter clothes (ours were in transit from overseas). Then October brought the 'summer' weather (80+ degrees)and now we're back to being cold (as I write this the temp. is 41 degrees).

Anyway, thanks again and have a great day!

HI!!!  We do have a support group every month--meets the second Thursday---at Community Hospital---6:30pm---some of  us meet a little early at the "fountain" to catch up, too---"CHOMP" ( the hospital) also has a support group for "advanced"--that this month meets on Wednesday 1/28----- so you could come to both...... it's really nice for the pre-op folks and newly post-ops to meet and hear from people further out like  you, so please try to come to the Feb 12th meeting.
Some of us have been trying to also get together for a coffee date---between support groups--and so please join us for that too if you can--- next one isn't planned yet tho'--- maybe in a week or 2 when Jenn is healed up enough......anyway--pm me with contact info---and we'll be able to keep in touch.
Welcome to Monterey---and hope to meet you soon!

Welcome, there is a support group monthly at the Hyatt that Dr. Cirangle holds. Here is his calender for January. I won't be there this month but will next month.

I have been to the one at CHOMP but was really centered around the lapband and RNY. I had the DS and Dr. Cirangle really tries to include all surgery types in the discussion.  A small group but we get a lot of one-on-one type interactions.

'Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid insideways ... half a bottle of vodka in one hand ... a fat cigar in the other... a body thoroughly used up and totally worn out ... and screaming;'whooooohooooo what a ride'!'  HW/251 SW/242 CW/134 GW/140  WOW!! 117# Gone

Thanks for the info. I appreciate it. I'm a 3 yr. graduate of RNY so I will probably attend the meetings at CHOMP. Either way, I'm sure it will be refreshing to be around other 'losers' again. I've missed it.
