Per my post, if applesauce is a problem, I suggested alternatives... both pudding and cottage cheese would work.

Thanks so much.  I had success getting down the omeprazole!  Whoo hoo.  I am going to call the dr tomorrow about the others.  I'm going to try the cottage cheese tonight with the singular and actos.

You can try mixing it with some fage yogurt and mixed with some SF Torani Syrup..   Cottage Cheese, anything that doesn't make you dump and is okay for you to eat in your first stage..

Hi Barb------ I have a really hard time too----- first make sure that the pills and/or capsules are allowed to be crushed---or with the capsules opened up.  I put mine on a tsp. of sugar free/fat free pudding---mix it up---and eat it that way.... I know you are just out and prbably still on liquids...so maybe thin the pudding a bit??? I was able to quit the metformin right after surgery---and so didn't even take any pills for the first week---then when I got to the full liquids--I started the crushing and opening the capsule methods.
MOST IMPORTANT--is to get the okay on the crushing and opening!!!
Good luck with it all..... I still have a tough time with any kind of pills....but I keep believing it all gets easier!

Thanks so much for your suggestions.  I will keep working on it!  When I mentioned it to the surgeon yesterday, he didn't seem to concerned and told me to talk to the PCP.  I will call him tomorrow but keep trying the others to see if I can tolerate them.

Hi new Barb,

I did what most do, cut it up in tiny little pieces.  I could not do the applesauce thing and mine also were very bitter.  But in tiny doses it can be done.  Soon it won't be a problem.  I can take a horse pill now for some reason, I know others can't but for some reason I can.  But I can't do sugar, fat or bread and some can.  We are all so different in little ways.  Your doing great!  Keep asking tne questions, it will only benifit you!  Keep rockin your tool

I wish I could offer advice but I had to crush my meds after sugery and nothing seemed to help.   Just had to keep gagging it down.  That will pass though and I'm off my meds now except metform, which I can swallow whole now.  The only thing I can suggest is ask your doctor if any of your meds can be given in liquid form.
