Nice pictures. I was wondering where you had your surgery. I had mine at UCLA with Dr. Eric Dutson. On 7/9/08.  My starting weight was 297lbs. So far I have lost 92lbs. I need 55lbs more to lose but I am at a Plato.  I don't have a picture of me at the top of my profile but if you look in my pictures you will find one. I am wearing a beige blouse. I haven't quit figured out how to put a picture up at the top. Cathy

Aw Jan, how sad :(

That happened to us when I was a teen.  The new people said they'd care for them, they just wandered the yard... didn't need anything really.. but they ended up giving them to a society and didn't tell us or give us the option to take them or whatever.  I'm still mad about that, lol  :(

I love my babies :)

I can't imagine not having them!  I've always had a turtle growing up, always a boxie.  Now. I'm all over the board, lol

They are so fun and interesting to watch, and they have such personalities :)

Thanks for looking everyone!!

OMGoodness.. I just LOVE it.. WE are a big TURTLE family.. We had a turtle for 7 years that Pets Mart killed.. A story for another time..    And she was my daughters, she misses her so much...

But I love the pics and the new site.  I will take her to see them later, I am still pretty weak, and tired, so it is all I have just to get on here now..

Thanks for sharing..

Hugs,
Jenn

I love your site! I had a RES for 10 years. I bought her for, I think it was $5 downtown and she got so huge! 11". I had to part with her since I only lived in an apartment. A friend of a friend adpoted her and now she lives in a big yard with a beautiful pond and lots of turtle friends! Happy ending.

I would love another turtle. Maybe a box turtle or another type of dry land turtle. Can you reccommend one to me that doesn't get too big. (I love the sulcatas, but they get so huge!)  And also a reputable place to buy one?  Thanks so much!

Hi Leslie!

Did you see our tortoise, Aristotle?  He is a Greek Tortoise and doesn't get much bigger than he is, I think he's probably around 8".  He doesn't hibernate so he'd have to come in for the winter months.  He's the best little guy, we adore him!

Or you could go the box turtle route.

If you're looking for easy maintenance etc, I'd go for a smaller tort like a Greek.  You could also do a Russian, but they have humidity requirements that can be handled well outside with watering etc.  Greeks don't do humidity, they get sick.  So, we keep him dry with alfalfa/hay and his little doghouse and pen and he's a happy boy :)

Wood turtles are nice too, they are really colorful and they are about 50/50 land/water.  So I'd say a outside turtle.  I guess that is where to start.  WHERE you'd keep one and how much room you could spare.  Let me know that and I'll see what I can do :)

Let me know if you have any more thoughts.  You can email me too, I think it's on my profile.  I can find someone to get one through for you most likely, whatever you choose.  :)

Aristole is adorable!  He seems like the perfect size. I have the tank from Skipper, my RES. It's about 30x30x15. Way too small for my huge RES, but seems nice and roomy for a little guy like your Aristotle! I have a small balcony too, so he/shoe could catch some rays outside. But the tank would be in the livingroom somewhere, I guess.

I think a Greek would be better for me than a Russian, (why is that making me giggle!?!). I used to have chameleons, and the drip system I had for them was a pain. They were beautiful but they needed a lot of humidity. It's pretty dry in Burbank.

The wood turtles are gorgeous, but I want to stay away from the water for a while. I had the Skippers tank right next to the sink and it wasn't too bad to change her water that way, but I'm liking my counter space now and my new baby won't be in the kitchen.

I saw the most beautiful tortoise online. It was called an ivory snow leopard tortoise. Then I saw the price. $1,800! eek! A little too rich for my blood!

P.S. I like your bangs. I just grew mine out and I miss them!
