Hi "Ocean" Thank you for the welcome. I look forward to seeing you on both the boards. I have some very good old friends on the CA board and, unfortunatey, a few accidentally recently made enemies. LOL Now I also have new friends on the DS group.

In spite of the ruckus that has been going on Gail, I remember you and do wish you the best with your surgery. Monica said it well....it is your choice and your body and health. I do wish you the very best and hope that you fight for what you believe it. All of the wls are successful as long as you work the tool that has been provided.

To me the way I put the RNY verses the DS is the way you treated with motorcycles. I ride a Harley....and supposedly King of Bikes....well as far as I am concerned...motorcycles are motorcycles and probably the only reason I ride a Harley is because my grandad got me into them. However when I was first riding and I was in the HOG group....they would not let my husband go on rides because he rode a BMW. A few times that they did let him go, he had to ride in the back of the pack.

People like to exclude people and make themselves feel superior over others for no darn reason really. Sometimes what happens here is that (and I am not pointing fingers) people's delivery is taken out of context...words cannot convey intonations, and yes there is some who have a superiority about how they think about "their" surgery. Now come...don't we all eventually come to the same place....yep we lost the weight and gained our health.

This  board will always remain a support for whatever kind of surgery you have had. Delivery of the the words are 9/10ths of how you will be treated. Honestly I do not believe that there is really one person here that is against a DS. Perhaps under educated about it would be more like it in my humble opinion. I say go for what you are comfortable with and the best to you with any choices you make.

Remember it is all about getting healthy is the bottom line!

Welcome back to the boards!

Thanks for the welcome Janine. As you say, my decision to have the DS surgery has nothing to do my friends decision to have RNY. I just want to be accepted as a Californian seeking WLS and support. I don't know how my request for tolerance got so twisted out of shape!

Yeppers I do, and think of you always. I remember when you left, I told you I would be here for you even then, and I still am, if you need me for anything let me know.

Hey Gail glad to see that you are back even though I probably wasn't here when you first started. Please don't apologize for having the DS as I think it is a great choice as you can tell it was my surgery choice.  Welcome.

Gail !  Of course I remember you.  I am so happy to see your smiling face.  I was thinking about you the other day.  I hope that things are well in your life and with your family.  I think getting your health under control is an excellant reason for WLS.  Thanks for coming by to say HI!!

Hi Gail, I posted this on another thread that was pulled so I don't know if you ever read it. I am happy that you have decided on the surgery that you feel will work for you. I wish you nothing but the best in your weight loss journey. =)
