You might want to just call the office and they can email you what there protocol is. Sometimes these doctors have a website you can go to and they have things posted there. I am sure if you call the office though they would have something they can send you. I was given and entire book to read that prepared me for my surgery it was a huge help. Yes you will be cooking again! lol. I have a new found love of cooking and I am having a ball. It is so fun to come up with new and different things. After your surgery everything will change. Your taste will change and you will find you either love or hate things you used to love or hate. I did not believe it myself and a million people told me this. I had to learn for myself. I always hated cottage cheese, now I can't get enough of it. It is so odd. If I could make one other recommendation is start taking walks. I don't know how large you are, but no matter walk as far as you can without getting totally exausted. Do a little more each day. If you can only walk to the neighbors house that is fine, tomorrow try and walk to the next house. This will make a huge differnece and you just might meet some new people, you never know. You are on the ride of your life. Enjoy!

The best thing I did pre op was get in plenty of exercise and eat lots of protein. A good protein buildup in your body will help you heal after along with shrinking your liver. The exercise helps with getting you up out of bed and start moving. Moving decreases your chance of complications.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Rina,
Good for you for wanting to get a head start. I would suggest starting a post op diet plan. Start to cut out bad carbs, and increase your protein intake. Maybe follow the Sonora Diet or the South Beach diet, I think the resemble the post op diet the most. And with anything, exercise. Even if it is walking 30 minutes a day three days a week.
You can do it, you can do anything you set your mind to.

That is a very wise decision! I did the same thing, and it really helped to get myself started.
This is what I did; you can adjust as needed to suit yourself.
B: A protein shake of at least 25 grams protein, with a banana for potassium.
(This is a great way to check out the different protein powders to find out which ones you can/can't stand!) I like the Syntrax Nectar varieties, and still use the GNC Dutch Chocolate Ultra-low Carb Isopure.
S: a protein bar and coffee
L: 1/2 sandwich on good whole grain bread with a good deli meat and some cheese (one slice of each), with mustard, and an apple
S: Protein bar
D: a good meal, focusing on protein first, along with a nice salad
S: single serving popcorn (If I really wanted it.in the evening)
I managed to lose 30# before my surgery date and I was never hungry. I decided to continue with the surgery because it helped to keep me on track. God only knows how many times I had lost weight and then put it all back on again, with extra pounds to keep it company.
I stopped drinking diet sodas, upped my water intake, and limited myself to one cup of coffee with my morning snack.
I also began to walk; short distances at first because that was all I could do. Two years later I was walking the 10K Wharf to Wharf in Santa Cruz.
I also put together a vitamin regime
Good luck!
