Why I do it
Hi Stephanie, I totally agree with you.I barely come on here anymore and the one time I do, I am just in total shock. The language is so childish on here and I am happy to see your posts. I do feel a little offended by this ladies choice of words, I admit that. And if she is happy about that and frankly could care less that is very sad. I would never feel that one surgery is SUPERIOR to another surgery and we have all been very supportive of each other regardless of what surgery we had. The bottom line here, is that we all are battling against the same thing- OBESITY. The name calling and the presentation of the posts are very offensive. Call it booty hurt or whatever, but I come on here for support- not to be told that my surgery choice was not the right one or that one surgery is far SUPERIOR then another surgery. Getting information out is one thing. Knowledge is power, but when you start degrating another person- calling them stupid and totally disrespecting their opinion and the choices they have made is when it gets sad. I admit I am "BOOTY HURT" from Ms. Cox's word choices and presentation.
I just felt the need to vent- something I have always been comfortable doing on this board until I read posts like the ones I see from this Cox lady. EVERY surgery has its pros and cons and I am not stupid or INFERIOR for making my decision to have RNY. I know I'll get some sort of response from this post but like I said, I am just in total shock at the disregard for people's feelings. I know I'll be told not to read the posts and to block her if I don't like them but It's kind of hard not to notice a post with over 400 hits on it and the people I know and love responding to them. I guess I am just as guilty as feeling the need to respond. I am not defending my surgery, I am defending my dignity because of the way her post made me feel. Thank you again for your posts. It's nice to see you on here.
Hugs,
Jaime

At this point, I have nothing but thanks for Diana Cox or letting some of us know there are alternatives-- despite what our insurance (Kaiser) tells us. Being jerked around by the medical community when ones life is at stake can make anyone pretty angry at the injustices we face. I had given up on surgery but, due to by chance seeing one of Diana's posts, I am back to pursuing WLS. I don't understand why there has to be so much fighting about the dissemination of information. Everyone has the right to decide what surgery is best for them. Hopefully, I will be able to let you all know how it works out for me someday.

Gail, I couldn't be happier for you that you are persuing surgery again. And yes, the fighting about which surgery is better is ridiculous. I would hope, however, that now that you have made your informed decision to have the DS, that you still will consider people with other surgeries as friends and people of support. You above all, know that this board is about support. A few years ago, there were people on here who were always looking for a confrontation. But for the most part, all those people are gone.No one on this board discriminates against people who have had different types of surgeries. You know that. You saw that first hand while you frequented the board in the past. I have never seen anyone here put anyone down for the surgical choice. My understanding is, however, that on the DS forum people with RNY or Lap Band or routinely put down. Now I don't know this for a fact, because I don't go to the DS forum. Why would I?
So again Gail, I hope this time is the golden charm for you and you get whatever surgery it is that you want.

Thank you Stephanie. I am back on the general CA Board because I remember it as a warm and supportive place. I haven't seen anything negative about other surgeries on the DH board, although some of the CA members do report the goings on over here LOL. Nice to see you are still here to offer support.
Diana, Just got your response from my previous post but couldn't find your reply. I am assuming that I have been "blocked" from "'Trash! Rid California of it!!!' or what ever her name was or they got rid of the thread. It is to bad that people can't handle other people's opinions when it doesn't match their own. I always like to listen to others people's ideas as I might learn something that I didn't know before.
'Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid insideways ... half a bottle of vodka in one hand ... a fat cigar in the other... a body thoroughly used up and totally worn out ... and screaming;'whooooohooooo what a ride'!' Semi-off topic here....any news on the class-action suit regarding plastics in California?
Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing. You have to make the mind run the body. Never let the body tell the mind what to do. The body will always give up. It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."
