ENDOSCOPY SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW

Since I've been lurking here on the cali board awhile, I thought I'd come out of my shell a bit and let everyone know what is going on with me.  Briefly, I had a lap RNY in 2001 and lost 100 pounds, have regained most of it due to poor eating habits, hernia, enlarged stoma and a widened (stretched) pouch.  My pouch was pretty big to start off with, and I felt little restriction several years post surgery.  Now I have researched the heck out of all my options, including going an enumerous diets, and have decided to go forward with a revision.  So tomorrow I am having an endoscopy so the bariatric surgeon can see what the heck is going on in there before he operates.  The surgeon has thus far recommended a revision of my RNY, but he will know more after the endoscopy.  The revision may have to be an open procedure and the thought of it scares me.  Any support would be greatly appreciated.  I know one of the reasons I was not successful the first time out was I had no support group to lean on.

Before you let them open you up, you might want to ask your doctor about the StomaphyX for Gastric Bypass Revision.  It's all done with an endoscope.  I just hate to have you be cut open if you don't have to be.  Good luck and keep us posted!!

Thanks for the heads up.  For me the reviews for the Stomaphyx have been mostly negative, and will not assist me in achieving the kind of weight loss I'm looking for.  I appreciate your response though.  Thanks.

The doctor is going to make his final recommendation after the endoscopy, but I think we are looking at making my pouch and stoma smaller.
