Thanks, Janeene - no beatings.

It really is important to establish and stick with good habits and a good relationship with food. You'll rely on them more and more as time passes.

I am sorry about the weight gain, but am still proud of how much you are down..
It is good that you are realizing this NOW and doing something about it..  I think it is going to be a yo yo thing for some of us for sure..   Knowing that it does happen is a big kick in the butt to keep being aware of everything you put in your mouth. (for me anyways)

Thank you for sharing, and I hope that it all works out for you and you don't continue on the path of weight gain...

Hugs,
Jenn

Thanks, Jenn and congratulations on your recent surgery.

I think I posted this to assist with the committment I'm making to myself - but, also thought it might be helpful for pre-ops and new post-ops.

Wishing you much success

Patty,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and feelings on the subject.  It is a real eye opener for those of us just beginning this journey, it is something we need to keep in the back of our minds as we go along here.

I am really happy and proud of you to recognize the need to do something about it now.  I once lost 103 lbs on a medical fast only to gain all of it and more back.  I only wish I would have been like you and knew when to say when.

Thanks for sharing.

Hugs,
Barb

Thanks, Barb and congratulations on your recent surgery.

I'd mentioned in my post to Jaime that I had read somewhere that less than 5 percent of people who lose 100 pounds or more, without surgery, keep it off. You were part of the norm.

Wishing you much success on your journey... you'll keep it off this time, just use your WLS tool.

Hey Patty, Long time no see.

Great post. In fact...we just hit this subject on www.bariatrictv.com.

Honestly....Looking back...those first few years were a cake walk compared to now.

Almsot 5 years out...and I have to work harder to keep on track. I have to work harder not to listen to that voice that says "hey...it's okay to eat that". i have to work hard to lose one or two pounds when they do show up.

I can say I absolutely changed my lifestyle durning that Honeymoon period so I've been lucky with not gaining a bunch of weight back...but I had great support of someone who HAMMERED it home to me that the first few years were the easiest..I credit her with my continued success.

Good for you for putting it out there and doing something about it.

Hi Toni,

Long time no see, too.

I actually lurke from time-to-time, but don't post often. Guess I was in a posting mood.

I'll have to check-out bariatrictv.com.

I hit 5-years in June. I was almost perfect as a new post-op. I followed the rules. I think it's important for people to know their personalities. For me, I'm an all or nothing type. So, either I'm perfect or, all bets are off. When I stopped being perfect with my eating, I hadn't developed balance. So, I'm working on not being perfect, but developing balanced eating habits.

Congratulations on maintaining your weight and good to "see" you.
