I had my surgery Yesterday
Some pain??...totally normal...I used to say I wa**** with a truck..believe me..tomorrow you will feel better and the next day..even better. Even if you cannot get your protein in..drink as much water or juice as you can..dehydration can occur easily at this point. I slept 1 hour out of every 2 hours..lol...and you will walk soon..baby steps. It allll gets better...day by day. I am 11 weeks out and feel terrific, and with the bestest of wishes...so will you.
speedy recovery!!!

Welcome to the wild side!
Dr J and Dr C recommend protein drinks, water, jello and ice chips the first few days and walk walk walk, sleep as needed. If you're not feeling better in a couple days, call Dr C. :-) They're the best!
I'm still not hungry and I'm 6 months out (I think this is great!). Think of the protein drink as gasoline for the body. To work well, it has to be fueled up. Holler if you need us.
Hugs,

Janine is so right, no matter what kind of WLS you had, it is major surgery. They cut your insides, the rearranged things, stapled, stitched and was only inside your body for an hour or so. Just being put to sleep takes a toll on your body. Don't be trying to do too many things. Just sip your water, take some protein drinks, get some sugar free popcicles, they really did the trick for me, If your body is tired then lay down, if you feel like walking walk, give yourself at least a week before you feel like almost human, do note I said ALMOST! You will do fine, it's all normal.
Wishing you the best, Diane

Jenny,
Yes, pain is normal right after surgery. Remember that things have been moved around, and depending on the procedure you had, organs may have been sliced and are swollen. Your body will guide you if you listen. As the others have said, hydration is very important and protein in the smallest amounts will heal.
I am 7 days post op and am really feeling better, but I do get tired when I do too much.
Thinking good thoughts that every day gets better.

Slow down girl...you just had major surgery!! Yeah you feel like you got punched in the tummy because you did! You didn't know that is what surgeons do in surgery???LOL just kidding!!! Take care of yourself...sleeping is a natural way for the body to tell you that you need to slow down. Follow your doctors protocal and you will do fine. Heal soon!

Jenny, I agree with the other posters, and don't have any aditional help to offer, but just wanted to say even though it seems rough right now, It DOES get easier.. I am a little over a week out and am up and moving around much better than I was my second day...
Good Luck to you hun, and if you ever need anything, let us know..
