Have you checked out Dr. Crookes at USC Hospital?  The hospital is a Bariatrics Center of Excellence.  He said in his seminar he doesn't take more than co-pay/deductible.  Hope this helps.

I dont know if this will help but when I had BC, my PCP was going to refer me to Western Bariatric in San Bernardino. I know nothing of the doctor or staff but I am sure there are a few people here that can tell you about them.

Hope this helps

Do you have a HMO or PPO? Dr. Krahn doesn't have any surgeon's/ program fee. I've been to his seminar twice. Could it be that you have a PPO so your out of pocket is higher because you have to pay a percent of the cost of WLS versus just your standard co-pay?

I would like to second the recommendation for Dr Crookes. He doesn't charge any program fees. You pay your copay or whatever your percentage is and that's it.

It also doesn't hurt that he's one of the best surgeons in the country in ALL of the procedures including the Duodenal Switch. And yes, I am a bit biased, but I knew about his reputation from professional collegues in the medical field and my father who was a doctor thought the world of him. For me it was a no-brainer

Best of luck!
