Post WLS...Which foods are not your friend...
Hi everyone,
Popping in to surf the boards.
I am almost 5 yrs out. I cannot eat any kid of ice cream. I can't eat frozen yogurt or anything like that.
CHinese food....UGH! It goes down and back up.....I recently tried it again and I got foamies and vomited.
I can eat cookies, candy, etc......but anything high in sugar with a different consistency makes me ill.
I don't drink soda....ever. Never, ever....I tried a couple of sips once...it hurt bad.
That's it, I think!

Sushi rice and Thai sticky rice are not my friends.
I had a problem with Ahi for a long time but finally haven't gotten past that point. Although, as a result, it's no longer my favorite type of sashimi.
Like you, I can handle pork in very small amounts. I still have problems with some cuts of beef. I also don't do white meat chicken very well except in salads with salad dressing or in chicken salad with mayo: too dry otherwise.
I also don't do most bread products. The few I can eat fill me up so fast that I don't dare eat them on a regular basis. I made the mistake of eating half a biscuit at Lucille's and, while I had no problem digesting it (and the tiny bit of apple butter I used), I couldn't eat much: it was a good thing I was sharing a salad with my father.

I won't be 4 months out for another week - can I play anyway?
I'm still a bit lactose intolerant but only when I drink milk. I can do cheese just fine, for example.
I haven't had bread or pasta or anything bread-like since the Exploding Tortilla incident and I don't plan to for a long time.

Ohhh I wanna play too.... I am 14 months out, and some things for me are chinese. It goes in, and then I spend 2 hours with foamies. So i dont do chinese. Milk gets me too. But not cheese or yogurt. I can even have a skinny latte at starbucks, so its almost all milk, and Im fine. Just cant have a cold glass of milk. Not sure about ice cream as I have only had maybe 3 bites total since surgery. Afraid of pushing it with the milk. Sometimes dry meats get me. So dry chicken, or dry pork is not my friend. So I guess Im like a lot of others on here. I almost feel normal!... ALMOST...lol
I don't do meat, chicken, pork or turkey. I can sometimes do seafood. I
on rice, breads and pasta. I don't do sugar but do eat some SF things without alot of sugar alcohols. I haven't had a diet soda in over 2 years...I used to drink at least 8 cans of Diet Dr Pepper everyday!! Since I really dont eat meat I stay away from fast food places. I do go to pollo loco or juan pollo and get the pinto beans with salsa or eat the middle out of a fish taco..

~~ It's all fun and games, til someone gets hurt~~

I'm almost 4.5 years post op and the foods that I like but my body doesn't are...
milk (I can tolerate about 2oz)
ice cream (I can tolerate about 2-3 small bites)
sushi rice
fast food hamburgers
high sugar foods (I dump off of around 10g or more of sugar/sugar alcohols)
high fat foods (high fat/greasy foods make me dump)
dried fruits like raisins, dried apples stuff like that... (too many sugars for me)
