Good morning Jenny,

I am 9 months post op and yes, it is normal for your tummy to feel upset.  I think a lot of it is gas.  What I would suggest is to.. rest, sip, and walk.  I know it is tough, but try to get in as much protein as you can.

BTW: Congratulations on your surgery and best wishes on your journey.

Hugs, Michele

Jenny,

I am 9 days post op and during the 1st part of my 1st week I had nausea as well.  My regular Dr put me on a Pepcid chewable before I went to bed and that has helped so much.  Riding in a car probably depends on the car and the roads, so far no problem other than initially the seat belt across my chest & stomach but I just held it away.

Hi Jenn...things in your turmmy are still freshly knit together.  Anything you can do to keep your abdomen calm is a good idea.  Rest is the word for the next 2 weeks..NOTHING needs to be started except walking and fluids and rest.  If you have a binder..keep wearing it, it relieves alot of fatigue on your back and abdomen muscles.
I did not have any nausea past post op hospital time, but I do know if your blood sugar drops..and it will with this new digestion protocol..I always kept a small box of pure apple juice around along with my water.  ...oh and for the other post-op problem you mentioned...a tad of baby prune juice helped me and then when I went to pureed foods...baby food prunes (stage 2 I think) worked...and tasted good!
You will do just fine!

Hi Jenn,
Congrats on your surgery. What you are experiencing is normal. But all of the previous post are right on. Rest, walk, sip - rest, walk, sip. Take care. I am moving over on the bench for ya.
Love, Karen B.

Except for the ride home, I didn't get in a car for 10 days.  All that jostling isn't good when stiches are trying to heal inside.  Sip, and walk and sleep are the best things to do right now. :-)

Did Dr C give you Metoclopramide 10MG tablets, 1 by mouth every 6 hours as needed for nausea or vomiting?  Dr J gave me that and it helped.  If you don't have a prescription for it, call the office and have them call it in for you.
