So I have to have an upper GI. Did anyone else have to do this? Is it horrible??

Thanks!

I had it done.  U have to swallow some liquid that doesn't taste all that great, but other than that it was fine.  It was pretty quick too.  Let us know how it goes.

I think having an Upper GI before surgery is pretty standard.  Like lala said, the liquid you have to drink doesn't taste great, but it was an easy test to go through.  Good luck!

Aimee,

I had to have an endoscopy and it was a piece of cake and takes 15 minutes.  Since I had not had a colonoscopy yet, I had that as well.  I kept teasing my gastroenterologist that I was in for my 2 fer!  He was cracking up.  I think the whole thing took an hour from start to finish.  No biggee.

Hi there,

I had to have one, too. Don't worry its not so bad. All you have to do is drink this horrible tasting stuff, but other than that its just an Xray of the liquid digesting through you. I was glad I had it done, though. I found out I had something else going on and when I had my bypass they were able to fix it also. It was kinda like a two for on deal...lol Don't worry its pretty standard and no big deal.

Only thing they did not add to it is that you might be a little constipated after! It does not hurt the upper GI, but it is just gross drinking the chalky stuff. Good luck!
